At South Huron Hospital, Exeter on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, of Lucan, in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Mary (Smith) Young for 65 years. Dear father of Nancy Murray of Hamilton, Sharon and Gord Blane of Lucan, and Diane Young and Phil Davis of Ilderton. Dear grandfather of Jennifer Murray and Jamie Vallely; Mike Murray and Kathleen Bingham; Rebecca and James McNaughton, Matthew Blane; and Jessica Davis; and great-grandfather of Quinn, Connor, Jocelyn, Jonathan, Tyler, and Carmen. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Gord and Jean Young of London, and Jean Smith of New Brunswick. Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son-in-law Ray Murray, sister Evelyn Coughlin and her husband Bob, and brother-in-law Robert Smith. George will always be remembered for his love of horses, riding his bicycle, and for the joy that he took in spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A special thank-you to the nurses, doctors and support staff at South Huron Hospital for their care and compassion.
Please gather at the Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, Lucan on Friday, January 13th at 9:30 AM for a funeral service, which will be held at 10 AM with Pastor Paul Vollick officiating. Cremation with spring interment St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye.
Donations to the South Huron Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Dear Nancy. You know that I send you, and your mom, Sharon and Diane, and all of your family my deep sympathy on the death of your dad. I am very sorry and sadden about the passing of George. A great man with a humble heart. Please except our condolences at this difficult time. I will always fondly remember growing up as George’s neighbour and watching how much he loved his horses and his family.
