We only just found out about Bill’s passing in 2021, when I drove to Seaforth to do some library research.

I was translating some old letters from 1954 from my father-in-law, who was a recent immigrant from Germany working on the Archibald farm near Seaforth. He describes Bill’s birth and arrival on the farm — his mother Anna was so happy!

My father-in-law kept in touch with Bob and Anna Archibald after they moved away from Seaforth and started their own family. My wife remembers visiting the farm when she was a child, she remembers Bill, and how very kind he was to her. She credits him with teaching her how to read, since he gave her all of his old comic books.

We wish he was still here, we would have liked to have shared what we learned in these letters with him.

Audrey, I was truly shocked and saddened by Bill&&single&&s sudden passing. My heart goes out to you. Bill was a man after my own heart, with the big screen hi-def TV and sofa with built in serving trays to enjoy sports, food and beer at the utmost. I regret not seeing more of both of you in the last few years.
With my sincere condolences, and love,
    Rob

    November 9, 2018 at 10:00 AM

    Hello Audrey
The shock is beginning to wear off and a lot of memories are pouring in. We did so much with you and Bill over the years – baseball, car rallies, curling and lately, trips down to Bayfield for fish and chips at the Albion. Bill was amazing – always organizing something for our little group. Pete is right – how he managed to put together those car rallies, I will never know. He is probably up there right now setting out his windshield washer fluid – turn right at the first cloud.
And who else could look after Lynn&&single&&s condos during 29 years of single life?
A true friend – we will miss him but we will look after you.

    Chris and Lynn

Dearest Adriana, What great fortune we had to know Bill and share some wonderful weekends together. We will miss his sharp wit, sense of humor and his vast knowledge. In fact, as Americans, we were always amazed at how much he knew about American politics…more than most Americans.
We are truly saddened by Bill’s passing. We feel honoured to have known Bill and blessed that his passing serves as a reminder that our time on this beautiful earth is limited and that we should sieze the opportunity to forgive, share, explore and love. There may be no greater way to honour him than to live this way.
Our love and prayers are with you dear friend.

My deepest condolences for my dear cousin Audrey and the entire family. I always find words to be rather inadequate in these circumstances. Loss of a loved one is always sad and sudden loss at such an early age is especially sad and terribly unfair. I didn’t know Bill that well at all. I only met him a few times at family gatherings. But I’ve known my cousin Audrey my entire life and if she could love Bill as her partner in life then it certainly means it was because Bill was a very good man. In the end, that is all we can hope for –that our loved ones keep us in their memory as a &&single&&good&&single&& person. I hope Audrey can continue enjoying her life without Bill just as he would have wanted her to do.

Dear Audrey, Our deepest condolences to you on “Mr. Bill&&single&&s” sudden passing. From the first time I met Bill in the ACRA baseball league in Burlington, we became fast friends. Maybe it was our similar small town upbringings (Bill was one of the few “city people” I met that had ever been to Formosa…). When we were moving to Burlington, Bill was there front and centre, with heavy duty work gloves of course, to help load and unload the PODS. I loved the email articles and cartoons that he would send along – usually related to small towns, baseball, politics, or some other topic that we both enjoyed. Whenever we had a theme party, Bill was sure to arrive in appropriate attire. And his road rallies…..I recall being in the car with you and Joan during one of the early ones, and we all agreed that Bill had waaaaay too much time on his hands to plan it and to come up with all those inane questions. And they only got better/quirkier every year. I am sure everyone still has a bottle of their winning prize – Windshield washer fluid, not wine. He was a wonderful, caring, delightful, generous person to have as a friend and he will be dearly missed by everyone that was fortunate enough to know him. RIP Mr. Bill

Truly one of the brightest, funniest, most humble and giving people we have ever had the fortune to cross paths with and one-half of one of the dearest couples we know. Bill was someone with the rare ability to positively impact the lives of anyone who took the time to know him. A heartbreaking loss but a treasure of great memories.

All of our love to you Audrey,
