My uncle Norm was one of a kind and I will always remember him, Aunt Margie and Barb with much love and fondness. My mother Melba would want to attend but her advanced age will prevent that. Norm was jovial and a character who always made others feel better. He will be sorely missed by my family and his community.

We are sending our heartfelt condolences on the incredible loss of Norm. We know there are no words that can ease your pain. He was so very active & involved in our local business community with so many different careers. He accomplished so much during his lifetime & touched the lives of so many people. Norm was the best auctioneer who could pretty much sale anything even the shirt off his back. R.I.P. Norm 🙏🏻

    “Normy” such a fun guy!
So many family memories going way back to Paul Bunyan Camp, Square Dance Camp in Rodney On., and all the years of friendship our parents shared. They had so many laughs and good times together. Each year in Florida a story or two still pops up about their times spent at Lehigh Acres and the list could go on.

    To the entire Whiting family
My sincere condolences on the passing of such a fine man. I first met Norm in 2006 when we were preparing for our Vimy Rededication Pilgrimage, as Justine and Jason were travelling with us, and we were planning on visiting Bretteville-sur-Laize, where his brother Pilot Officer Donald Stuart Whiting is buried. Norm was very pleased that his grandchildren would be visiting the cemetery, as at that time nobody from his family had visited his brother’s grave. I had the opportunity to talk to Norm a number of times afterwards, and in 2017 I joined Exeter Lodge 67 IOOF, and was warmly welcomed as a brother by Norm. We had some excellent conversations, especially when my grandmother Sister Shirley Pollock visited for the strawberry social.
I think the most moving conversation was a night at Lodge when Norm told the story about the three young airmen who visited his parents home in Centralia; his brother Donald, and two of Donald’s comrades, on their embarkation leave just prior to departing overseas. Norm told us that the three of them were down in the basement, and when he went down there the three young men were eating ice cream directly out of the container. Norm said his mother was ‘angry’ at the boys, but not really. Norm would have been about eight or nine years old, and he clearly idolized his big brother. When they went to the train station in Centralia the three young men stopped at the steps, turned and waved good bye – that was the last image he had of them, as none of them survived the war. Keeping the memory of his brother Donald alive was important to Norm, and I know he passed this along to his family.
Sometimes we are blessed to know people of integrity, who care deeply, and strive to make the world a better place. I was very fortunate to know Norm, I was blessed to call him my friend, and proud to call him my brother.

    Barb,Deb,Brian,Nancy,Barry and all extended family,
It’s tough to say goodbye to a friend of over 35years.
Our memories go back to the late 60s.
Square dance calling to Norms voice and he and Marg Qing us through various round dancing.
Traveling together for many years in the winter months ,playing golf, and stories that go on forever!
After spending months alone,we decided to blind date him and Barb,
Our trip to Montreal with Barb and Norm(buying furniture )was one we will never forget!)
Well….that was a match made in heaven as they were not long filling the void in each others hearts with a love that has lasted until his passing day.
    Rest in peace Norm
    Till we meet again

What a wonderful force of nature Norm Whiting was!

I had the pleasure of spending a lot of time with Norm one summer in the late 1960s while “helping” him with his bread route. I remember being amazed at how much fun Norm was having while at work. His customers, mostly farm families, were invariably happy to see him and to have a conversation with him while making their weekly bread and baked goods purchases.

I will never forget his endless energy and cheerfulness. And I especially will never forget his amazing ability to add up in his head (no calculators in those days) a large number of bread and baked good prices and come up with the right answer. Thanks to Norm there was a time in my life when I became pretty good at doing that too.

Thank you for some great memories Norm.

    Barb, Debra & Brian, Nancy & Barry, Randy & Sharon, Nancy & Murton & families;

Our sincere condolences in your sad loss. Norm was a very active and involved long time member of our local business community. He was also a tremendously valued part of the social fabric of our area, contributing in many, many ways. Norm was always so admirably generous donating his auctioneering skills to numerous great fundraising causes over several decades. On the personal side, Norm and I shared in a few entrepreneurial ventures together, especially in our appreciation for air and water purifiers. He was a valued member of our sales team, even in his semi-retirement years. Norm and I enjoyed many car rides together and became good friends. He was always happy to share the wisdom of his years and I was always willing to listen. Although not large in stature, Norm had a huge heart. He was extremely proud of his entire family and often boasted about your accomplishments.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Rest in peace , my dear friend Norm.

Mark & Julie Heimrich, my Mom, Marilyn Heimrich, and staff of Lifetime Water Products.

Our condolences to Barb and all the family. Leon and I hope that your memories of his life will guide you through this very difficult time. Norm had a great life and he was such an amazing man and always knew the right thing to say. Leon worked for Norm at the antique furniture store in Exeter for many years and they were close. He went to visit Norm in the Villa not that long ago and they had a good visit and talked about old times. That was good. Many of the memories Leon and Norm shared his children will remember and will laugh about in the future. We know the family have lots to share and to remember. Thinking of you all at this hard time in your lives.
