WEIDO: Barbara “Barb” (Smith) of Grand Bend, formerly of Mitchell

Passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at home with her husband by her side on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the age of 82. Cherished wife and best friend of Ken Weido for 59 years. Proud mom of John and Tarryn Weido, and Andrea Weido (Ian Skipper). Adored grandma of Connor, and Brooklyn.

In Barb’s early years, she was a well-respected teacher in Mitchell and Seaforth. She taught Latin, Phys Ed and English. Through retirement she taught Thai Chi to friends in the community for 20 years. Barb was a talented quilter, crafting many pieces for her home as well as donations to various organizations. She was equally crafty with needle work, making beautiful pieces. Together Barb and Ken enjoyed many years on their sailboat, winters in both Arizona and later Florida but they were most happy together at their retirement home in Huron Woods, in Grand Bend.

Keeping with Barb’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Haskett Funeral Home, Zurich.

Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
