Jeltje “Julie” Knip Visscher (nee Brouwer) of Exeter, ON, was called home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. Jeltje was born on July 22, 1930 in Niuewe Pekela, The Netherlands. She immigrated to Canada in November 1952.
Jeltje is predeceased by her husband of 36 years, W. Victor Knip (1953-1989) and husband of 12 years Pieter Visscher (2003-2015). Jeltje is survived by her children, Anne & Mike Flikkema (Strathroy, ON), Fred & Dita Knip (Lacombe, AB), Bert & Elaine Knip (Exeter, ON), Harry & Marg Knip (Exeter, ON), Ruth & Earl McNab (Kerwood, ON), John & Kathie Knip (Charlotte, NC), Julia & Tom Dickins (Hensall, ON), Teresa & Mike Buckman (Zurich, ON), Mary & John Van Es (Kitchener, ON) and Bert & Wilma Visscher (Exeter, ON). She is also survived by 35 (26 Knip/9 Visscher) grandchildren, 79 (54 Knip/25 Visscher) great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by all.
Jeltje is also predeceased by her grandson Evan Dickins, parents Berend and Annechien (Pikkert) Brouwer and siblings Fenny and Berend Boersma, Henny and Jelle DeJonge, Jan and Truus Brouwer, Jelle and Corrie Brouwer, and Geertje and Harm Haaijer as well as in-laws Frederikus and Annechein (Bekkering) Knip, Tally (Knip) and Hank Nieman and Harm and Klasien (Bos) Knip.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 456 Main Street South, EXETER on Tuesday, November 5th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 PM.
Jeltje’s funeral service will be held at the Exeter Christian Reformed Church, 330 Huron Street West, EXETER on Wednesday, November 6th at 11 AM. Stream the service live or at your convenience by visiting https://www.youtube.com/@exeterchristianreformedchu9708/streams. Interment Exeter Cemetery.
Donations to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind or the Exeter Christian Reformed Church would be greatly accepted.

We are so very sorry to hear that your mom, Oma and Great Oma passed away. We have fond memories of when we first arrived in Exeter as a young couple, and how we were welcomed by your dad and mom to this community by inviting us over to their house for soup and buns. Over the years, we remember Julie as such a warm, kind and loving person whose smile could lighten a room and encourage anyone witnessing it. She would share her love through her gift of beautiful singing in church. What a blessing it was to have known her; she will never be forgotten. She, truly, was a very special person, loved by so many! Hugs to everyone.
