Passed away peacefully at AgeCare, Parkhill on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at the age of 96. Cherished husband of Tanny (Van Arenthals) Vanderhoek for over 68 years. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Marien and Hilda Vanderhoek, Donna Van Arenthals, and Gladys Vanarenthals. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and his four-legged companion Molly. Predeceased by his parents Anton and Wilhelmina Vanderhoek, Pete and Annie Vanderhoek, and Zoet and Pete De Graaf.
Gerry immigrated to Canada in 1951. He was sponsored by the Hicks family in the Centralia area and began working. Together he and Tanny bought a farm on Coursey Line and began building a life together. Gerry worked tirelessly on the farm and was proud of both his roots from Holland and Canada.

Dear Tanny, Tony, Ron and your families. Our sincere condolences with Gerry’s passing. He holds a special place in our hearts when he stepped up and picked up Dad every day for coffee while he was experiencing health issues. You have been great friends and neighbors for many years. My sister Teresa used to call Dad and Gerry – Fred and Barney – Gerry being Barney. There are lots of memories of them together.
