A beloved husband, father, grandad, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at the age of 82. He was the loving husband of Marg (McGuire) Suplat for 53 years. Dear father of James Suplat and Wade Suplat both of Hamilton. George was a dear grandad to Jamie, Alysha, and Chad (Victoria), and a cherished great grandfather to Callie and Carter.
He was predeceased by his brother Steven Suplat and sisters-in-law Marion Suplat and Mary Ellen McGuire, and brother-in-law Pat McGuire. Much loved brother-in-law of Gerald McGuire, Catherine McGuire and John Martel. George will be missed by his nieces and nephews, including Paul and Linda, Donna, Barbara (Colin), Cathy, Sarah, Carter, and Michael.
Soup will be remembered with great affection for his dedication to keeping our roads clear, his passion for playing hockey in Zurich, his enjoyable Wednesday pool days, his love of snowmobiling and a cold OV, and for always having a Mr. Big on hand for anyone who did a good job. His friendly presence and warm personality touched the lives of many, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Friends and family are invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, June 27, from 10-11 AM at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 22 Mary Street, Zurich where the Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM with Father Tony Laforet presiding. Cremation with interment at St. Boniface Cemetery, Zurich. Donations can be made to the South Huron Hospital, Canadian Cancer Society, or St. Joseph Hospital Health Care Foundation.
We are always willing to go where called upon but this image shows a visual of the communities that our included in our initial transportation fee. We offer a 40km radius from any of our 5 locations (Arva (London), Exeter, Lucan, Seaforth, and Zurich). Any mileage beyond the included 40km will be charged a rate of $2.50/km (one way travel only).

Condolences to Marg and family and the Zurich community who have lost another of their favorite sons. As a child Soupy was more like a brother than a friend. He hung out with my brother Jerome at our home and mom and dad loved him. He played hockey in our basement where he developed his great slap shot. As years passed and I moved away I’d see George infrequently but when I did he’d laugh and reminisce about days gone by. He was loved and will be missed. RIP George.
