Peacefully, and surrounded by family, at Sprucedale Care Centre, Strathroy, on Monday, April 11, 2016, of Strathroy, and formerly of Lucan in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Ann (Geerts) Straatman. Dear father of Annette and Tim Martens of Ilderton, Jane and Paul Van Bilsen of London, Tony and Connie Straatman of Thorndale, and John Straatman and Nicole Archibald of Lucan. Dear grandfather of Natalie, Janelle, Rhiannon; Kyle, Brandon, Nicholas, Todd, Steven, Kendra; Bryan, Lauren, Eric; Matthew, Joel, Scott, and Brynne. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Herman and Joanne Straatman, Theresa and Victor Soetemans, Nellie and Bill Vanderburgt, Harry and Ellie Straatman, Tony and Rita Straatman, Lina Straatman, and Elsie and Alfons Couwenberg. Gerald will be missed by the Geerts family, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sisters Mary Hogervorst and her husband Matthew, Ardina Straatman, and brothers Leo Straatman, and Peter Straatman. The Straatman family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all at Sprucedale Care Centre for their exceptional care.
Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, Lucan on Friday 4-7 PM. Prayers will be said in the funeral home on Friday evening at 7:30 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, 32922 Richmond Street, Lucan on Saturday, April 16th at 11 AM with Father Wes Chudy presiding. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery, Lucan.

Hi Anne and family. We were very sorry to read of the death of Gerry and father…..we spent very many happy hours playing cards, bowling etc. in our early days in Lucan.
