Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at Sprucedale Care Centre, Strathroy on Monday, December 20, 2021 of Strathroy, formerly of Lucan at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Gerald Straatman (2016). Cherished mother of Annette and Tim Martens of Grand Bend, Jane and Paul Van Bilsen of Huntsville, Tony and Connie Straatman of Thorndale, and John Straatman and Nicole Archibald of London. Proud Grandma of Natalie and Anthony, Janelle and Glen, Rhiannon; Kyle and Emily, Brandon and Brittany, Nicholas and Kaitlyn, Todd and Taylor, Steven and Jaida, Kendra; Bryan and Kristen, Lauren and Emily, Eric; Matthew and Kelsey, Joel and Madi, Scott, and Brynne. Adored great-grandmother of Henry, and Gwen. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Johanna Van Bavel of Belgium, Mary Vermeiren of Watford, John and Annie Geerts of Watford, Mary Geerts of Strathroy, Nellie and Adrian Vereyken of Beachburg, John Verheyen of Warwick, Corrie Relouw of Grand Bend, Ada Hendrikx of Parkhill, Cathy and John Van Kessel of Strathroy, Willy and Martin Van Kessel of Strathroy, and Jack and Julia Geerts of Watford. Ann will be missed by the Straatman family, along with several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Josie Verheyen, brother Gerard Geerts, brothers-in-law August Van Bavel, Henry Vermeiren, Ted Relouw, and Adrian Hendrikx, and infant sister.
Ann resided at Sprucedale Care Centre for over 11 years. The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to the many staff for their care and compassion shown to both Ann and Gerald over the years.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, LUCAN on Wednesday from 4 – 6 PM. Due to Provincial COVID-19 restrictions, each person must RSVP for the visitation, please click “Register Now” below, to register.
Ann’s Funeral Mass will be held at All Saints Parish, 124 Front Street East, Strathroy on Thursday, December 23rd at 11 AM with Fr. Thom Blondin presiding. Private family interment St. Patrick Cemetery, Lucan. Due to Provincial COVID-19 restrictions, each person must RSVP for the Mass, please click “Register Now” below, to register. Please note, there will be no public gathering following the interment.

My condolences to the entire Straatman (Geerts),family. Ann was a lovely lady who was always ready to help anyone. I always remember that she babysat for an entire week for me, a few weeks after her wedding while I was in the hospital having had one of my daughters.

Ann was a wonderful sister in law who loved us all and loved Gerry deeply. Her children and grandchildren were the pride of her life and always liked to talk about them.
