William Robert Stephenson – Bill – passed away peacefully at home on May 1, 2024, in his 92nd year. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Bill was preceded by his wife, Lorraine Stephenson (June 7,1934 – May 11, 2017)

Bill is survived by his 4 children Lori-Anne and Jim Davis, Lynne Fowle , Lisanne  and Paul Kieraszewicz, David Stephenson and Marie-Claude Cantin. Also he will be remembered by his 4 great-grandchildren Cody, Zachary Skoczny Gratton. Levi, Ellison Davis.

William (Bill) is the second son of Leo Stephenson and Effie Logan.  He was born in Clinton, Ontario.  Up to June of 1945 his parents owned and operated the General Store in Kinburn, Ontario.  From the summer of 1945 until October of 1950 they lived on the ancestral farm immediately west of the village.  In October of 1950 they moved to Seaforth, Ontario.  He graduated from Seaforth Collegiate Institute in 1951 and entered Engineering at the University of Toronto.

Upon graduation he worked at DeHavilland Aircraft in Toronto.  After spending a year and a half in Quebec City and three years in Cocoa Beach, Florida while working for the Special Products Division of DeHavilland under contract to the Department of National Defence, he returned to Toronto in 1964.

From 1964 until the end of 1974 he worked for the SPAR Division of DeHavilland and later for SPAR Aerospace on various Military and Aerospace projects. In January 1975 he moved to the Ministry of Transportation (Ontario).  From then until July of 1997 when he retired, he was involved in the testing of heavy commercial vehicles.

In his retirement years he volunteered for both the Red Cross and Meals on Wheels as a driver and was often requested by name for his trips! He also was known for his attention to detail and thousands of names in his genealogy records carefully kept on his computer.

William Robert Stephenson will be dearly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of many.

Donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Always will be remembered for his gentle nature. Bill was a great guy and thrived on sharing his work with the ancestry finds. A great resource for so many. Looking forward to reminiscing with his family this weekend. Mom was always so thankful to him for spending time with her and bringing Lorraine to every gathering!

    Very sorry for your loss.
Bill was a wonderful person. I enjoyed going to work knowing that Bill would be there. By placing challenges he encouraged me to learn more and do more at work. I will never forget Bill.
