STEPHENS: Joe of Exeter and Kirkton
Posted By Haskett Funeral Homes On February 6, 2024 @ 9:35 AM In Exeter,Obituary | 60 Comments
Passed away peacefully at Huronview Home for the Aged, Clinton on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the age of 93. Beloved husband of the late Mary (Eckert) Stephens (2002). Cherished father of Neil and Linda, and Joe and Dinette all of Kirkton. Proud GP of Kelly and Jared Bourne, Amanda and Shawn McLean, Jake Stephens and Nicole Harding, Jeff and Meghan Stephens, Grace and Kay Weber, and Hannah Stephens and great-grandpa of Grayson, Cooper, Kaelan, Fiona, Norah, Lily, and Mick. Fondly remembered by his dancing partner Mildred Northcott, and his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by infant son Larry, his parents Andrew and Pearl Stephens, and his sister and brother-in-law Helen and Gerald Francis.
You could find Joe out standing in his field sneaking a smoke. He was a man of many careers; a feed mill operator, truck driver, store and gas station manager, and a farmer. Joe would always agree with everyone and quietly do as he wanted.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 456 Main Street South, EXETER on Friday, February 9th from 4-6 PM.
A private family graveside will be held at Kirkton Union Cemetery.
Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Dear Neil and Linda and Family, Sorry to read of your family patriarch passing recently. Often have driven by the family farm on my way to London for various reasons with the intention of stopping in but never seemed to have enough time to do that. Hard to believe it’s been almost 50 years since we were all young pups at C.C.A.T.!! May your countless memories and stories of your dear dad/grandfather and great grandfather help you through this difficult time. Sincerely, Joyce King (Ireland) (FSM with Linda).
To Joe, Dinette, Neil, Linda and families, we express our deepest sympathies on the passing of your father

Neil, Linda, Joe, Dinette and families:
A mild mannered and pleasant man, Joe always had a smile and quiet words of conversation. Always enjoyed seeing him during his time in the Woodham service centre. I remember good times as well at the Stephens family reunions from many years ago which a couple of times were hosted at his parents farm. You will have many memories to share.
