June 29, 2022 By Haskett Funeral Homes 195 Condolences

STEFFLER: Lin (Dellow) of Seaforth and formerly of Walton **Updated

Peacefully with family by her side at LHSC-University Hospital, London on Thursday, March 11, 2021 of Seaforth and formerly of Walton in her 75th year.  Cherished wife of Joe Steffler for over 53 wonderful years.  Loving mother of John and Heather Steffler of Seaforth.  Adored Nana of Davis (Troy), Charlee, and the late Tanner Steffler (2017).  Great-nana of Rya.  Dear sister of Andy and the late Ellen.  Dear sister-in-law of Anne Doherty (the late John, 2003) of Goderich, Clem Steffler (Phyllis) of Calgary, Verna Steffler (the late Jim, 2018) of Wingham, and the late Louis (1948). Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Lin was a proud member of her community, serving as Reeve of Seaforth and the first Mayor of Huron East.  Lin had great pleasure in cooking and baking; and Joe gratefully took on his role as taste tester.  She also enjoyed her years of singing with the Seaforth Harmony Hi-lites.

A private funeral mass for immediate family will be held at the St. James Roman Catholic Church, Seaforth on Monday, March 15, 2021 at 11 AM. Though the service is private, the family invites you to join with them from the comfort of your home. Stream the service live or at your convenience by visiting www.facebook.com/haskettfh. Cremation with interment in the Saint Ambrose Cemetery, Brussels will be held at a later date.

**A celebration of Lin’s life will be held at the Brussels Legion, 620 Turnberry Street, Brussels on Sunday, July 10, 2022 from 1 – 5 PM. At the family’s request, please dress in casual attire to match Lin’s joyful spirit. Arrangements entrusted to Haskett Funeral Home, Seaforth. (519-527-1390).

Donations to the Tanner Steffler Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

To all of Lin’s family and friends,
Oh Lin, we are missing you now. Neil and I have great memories of our families living beside each other in the two homes at the corner of North Line and Blyth Rd. When you moved from Stratford to a “quiet community”, you and Joe had many new adventures! We remember you stating that you may move back to the city as you needed some time for quiet and rest. We enjoyed the friendship with you and Joe and as our families grew, we had many conversations over coffee, etc. as our children played underfoot. Walton parties, snowmobiling (accidents included),ballgames at the park, and other community gatherings bring a smile to us now. Our friendship remains and we cherish it.

Our sincere sympathy to Joe, John, Heather and family.

Dear Joe, John and Heather, and family,
My heart breaks at the loss of your wife/mother/grandmother. Lin was a kind woman with a heart of gold. I have many recollections of seeing her at school concert and events when John and I were at Walton and Seaforth together, and singing with her in the Harmony Hi-lites . The memories of the trip to Europe with her and Joe in 2008 are moments I hold dear in my heart. Laughing at Joe’s bartering skills on the Trocadero in Paris , seeing Lin and Mom’s pride laying a wreath at the Vimy Memorial on behalf of the Brussels Legion, and watching her and Joe’s eyes fill with tears as I sang “Danny Boy” at J.H. Steffler’s gravesite at Groesbeek Cemetery in Holland are just a few of the treasured moments I was blessed to have with her. May the love of your family and friends wrap around you and the many special memories you have of Lin give you comfort. Lin was just such a wonderful human and her presence here on Earth will be missed.
    Love from ,
    Tracy (Bosman) McLennan

Dear Joe, John and Heather and Family:
I am so sorry to hear of Lin’s passing. I have a lot of good memories of Lin when we worked together at the HPCDSB. May your faith, family and friends guide you through this most difficult time.
