SPEIR: Susanna (Imanse) of Exeter

Peacefully at South Huron Hospital on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the age of 86, Susanna was called home to her Lord and Saviour. Reunited with her husband of 45 years Robert Speir (2007). She was the proud mother of her son Robert and his wife Charlene, and her son William James. Proud grandmother of her two grandsons Andrew and Paul. She is also survived by her siblings Andrew Imanse (Ruth), Peter Imanse (Jean), John Imanse, Joanne Forestell (John), John Hoogenes (Sharilyn Glazier), and Darlene Stastny (Peter). Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.  Predeceased by her brother Frank Imanse and her sisters Gertie Penninga and Janice Devries.

Susanna was born in The Netherlands and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1947. We will greatly miss Susanna and remember her as the kind, hard working, always ‘ready to help’ person she was. She loved music and loved to play her piano. Her strong faith helped her through many difficult times.

Many thanks to all the nurses from Home Care, South Huron Hospital, the doctors at Victoria Hospital, and Dr. McLean.

Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 456 Main Street South, EXETER on Tuesday, November 12th from 2 – 4 PM and again one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 40007 Kirkton Rd, Exeter on Wednesday, November 13th at 11 AM. Interment Bairds Cemetery.

Donations to Noah’s Ark would be appreciated by the family.

To the family os Susanna;
I met Susanna at Coffee Break, quite a few years ago now. I enjoyed listening to her thoughts on what we were studying, her view on events, her way of getting a point across in a gentle manner and her love for the Lord. She was missed in our smaller group, as well as in the larger group, when she decided not to attend Coffee Break any more. She was a delight to know and I was blessed to have that privilege. My deepest sympathy to you. God Bless.

Sincere sympathy on behalf of South Huron Hospital Auxiliary. Susanna will be greatly missed as a tireless, quiet, & dedicated volunteer for our hospital ‘s rummage sale for many years as department head of our Christmas & flower decor department. Was shocked she’s passed on even though feeling unwell at our last rummage sale in October, she was determined to continue as best she could. Thoughts & prayer to her family.
