SKONIECZNY: Jason of Exeter, and formerly of Lucan

November 21, 2016 By Haskett Funeral Homes 82 Condolences

SKONIECZNY: Jason of Exeter, and formerly of Lucan

Suddenly at home, on Sunday, November 20, 2016 of Exeter, and formerly of Lucan following his 44th birthday.  Best friend and loving husband of Jennifer (Beecroft) Skonieczny.  Proud father of Dean and Jared.  Beloved son of Linda and Larry Fowler of Hensall, and the late George Arthur Skonieczny (1984). Treasured brother of Karen Skonieczny of London. Beloved grandson of Joan E. Ryan of London.  Step-brother of Carl Fowler of London.  Dear son-in-law of Kirk and Norma Beecroft of Exeter. Long-time friend and brother-in-law of Angela and Wayne Gaiser of Exeter, Janice and Christian Stuckless of Exeter, and Johnathan and Kelli Beecroft of Exeter.  Missed by his goddaughter Laura Gaiser, his nephew Karstin Stuckless, his nieces EnaRae and Lulu Stuckless and he much anticipated the arrival of Baby Beecroft.  Best Friend of Jack and Ann Vandendries of Burks Falls, Jeff and Stephanie Crossett of London. Missed by his loyal animal companions Jade and Angel.  Jason will be missed by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers.

Jason was a humble, quiet, gentle man, who loved to laugh and reminisce with his friends and family. He was known at the Drag Strip as Racin’ Jason, driving his Chevrolet Malibu “Thumper”.  He was also known as the crew chief for Testy Racing and was proud to send the 36’Chevy or the 55′ Chevy down the track. Jason enjoyed watching Dean on the soccer field, or Jared running anything with a motor, marching with the Cadets or on the ball field. He was proud of his boys, and enjoyed the special times sharing American Graffiti, Hot Rod, songs of the Beach Boys or turning it up to AC/DC.

Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, Exeter (1 street west of Main) on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM, where the funeral service will be held on Friday, November 25th at 11 AM. (Please feel free to wear your favourite drag racing t-shirt)  Interment St. Patrick Cemetery, Lucan.

Donations to a fund for Dean and Jared would be appreciated by the family (Cheques payable to Manulife).

Offer Condolence for the family of SKONIECZNY: Jason of Exeter, and formerly of Lucan

For the short time that I have worked at Maple Leaf and specifically on NBZ Days I have always sat directly across from Jason and next to Linda. I have had the pleasure of listening to Jason talk about his love of cars, his boys Dean and Jared, the Leafs’ standing and whether or not they would make the next playoff, and typical day to day happenings at the workplace. I think his number one quality was the ability to listen and give positive feedback in the form of a smile and laugh. He excelled at being a practical joker and at the same time was capable of taking jokes. I would rant, he would listen without judgment, and offer his typical mellow response. At times it felt we were like war time buddies as I jested and asked him, “Did you serve your tour of duty today?” (alluding to the number of times he served in the a**hole spot). He always made time to say hi to me as I was setting up in the morning or passing him by mid-rotation. He appreciated the little things in life and always took time to remember the people that came to see him at the hospital when he had that accident at work. I just want Linda and the family to know that I appreciated him and to say that I miss him and all the good times is not enough. I was utterly shocked and deeply saddened by the news. Sorry for your loss and may Jason rest in peace.
