Passed away peacefully at Exeter Villa on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late Fleming Simpson (2010). Cherished mother of Ron and Karen Simpson, and Dale and Nika Simpson. Proud grandma of Carrie and Anthony Triebner, Ronald Simpson; Ryan Simpson and Carly Hull and great-grandma of Stuart, Henry, and Rachel Triebner, Jillian, and Jaime Simpson, and Lilly Simpson. Dear sister-in-law of Peter Black, and Jack Triebner. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents James and Edna Anderson, great-grandson James Simpson, her three sisters; Marg Triebner, Jean Black, and Helen Reid, and brother-in-law Don Reid.
Doris was a very hardworking woman. She loved her life on the farm; cutting grass, gardening, or picking stones, she loved it all. Doris had a great sense of humour, always ready for a joke.
Cremation has taken place. A small memorial service and celebration of life will be held at Thames Road Elimville United Church, 71209 Elimville Line RR 3 EXETER on Saturday, March 16 beginning at 1:30 PM. A private family interment will be held at the Exeter Cemetery at a later date.

To: Ron & Karen / Dale & Nika / & Families . . .
A mother’s Love is always with her children. Losing a mother is one of the deepest sorrows a heart can know. But her goodness, her caring and her wisdom live on- like a Legacy of Love that will forever be with you. May that Love surround you now and bring you peace.
“Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories.”
I am sending my heartfelt sympathies to you at this difficult time as you say good-bye & mourn the loss of an especially important lady in your lives. Doris was such a lovely person, always smiling, cheerful, kind-hearted, sincere, hard-working, just a remarkable woman who along with your dad, Fleming raised a wonderful family. I have fond memories of both your parents from earlier years of when they were best friends of my late parents Jack & Marion Parsons. My Mom, as well as myself would meet up with Doris & the other Thames Road Church ladies at Tim Horton’s in Exeter after church most Sunday mornings for girl’s talk. We missed our visits with Doris when she was admitted as a patient at the Exeter Villa.
As you gather to mourn your Mom, may loving memories replace your tears with smiles of happy times together . . . may you find strength in each other now & in the difficult days ahead. It is always hard to see our once lively parents age & eventually leave this world behind – but know your Mom & Dad is reunited once again forever in Heaven. ❤️
Speaking on behalf of myself & my siblings of the “Parsons Family” – we will be keeping your entire family in our thoughts & prayers. I will be thinking & praying for you as you mourn & celebrate your beautiful Mom – HUGS to all! ❤️🙏🏻❤️
Sincerely, Brenda (Parsons) Martene ❤️
Sincere condolences, remembering her always outside working with a smile on her face. May your memories bring you comfort.
