A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. A strong man of honesty and integrity passed away at the Exeter Villa on Saturday, July 6, 2013 in his 91st year. Devoted husband of 63 years to Doris Sillery. Loving father of Janice Mellace of Exeter, Nancy Martin (J.C. Goyens) of Burlington, and Larry and Pauline Sillery of Alberta. Dear grandfather of Corrinne (Vito) Internicola, Frank Mellace, Giulea (Shawn) Groenestege; Staci (Stephen) Griffiths, Sara (Kevin) Pratt and Joel Martin (Melissa); Angie (Jon) Calvert, and Adam (Sheila) Sillery. Fondly remembered by several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Dear brother and brother-in -law of Kathleen and Lorne Aikens of Mitchell. Predeceased by sons-in-law Gus Mellace and Bill Martin and grandson Nico Mellace. Ervin spent his life as a farmer in Tuckersmith Township and enjoyed many years serving the community as Tuckersmith Council Member (1962-1972), Deputy Reeve (1973-1976), Reeve (1977-1980), and Exeter Town Council Member (1989-1994).
Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, Exeter (1 street west of Main) on Wednesday, July 10th from 10-11:30 AM where the funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM with Bob Heywood officiating. IntermentExeterCemetery
In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.

Dear Doris,
My deepest sympathy to you and your family at this painful time. I can’t find the words to express my sorrow over the death of your husband Ervin. He was a kind, caring man and a good neighbour. Please know I’m thinking of you fondly. I pray that your treasured memories of Ervin will keep you strong.
