Ronald (Ron) William Chanyi

February 9, 2012 By Haskett Funeral Homes 100 Condolences

Ronald (Ron) William Chanyi

Peacefully, at home in Exeter, on Thursday, February 9, 2012 with his family by his side, in his 67th year.  Ron is survived by his much-loved wife of 43 years Mary Jenn (MJ) (McLean) Chanyi, his daughter Jodi Wildfong and her husband Scott, his son Christopher Chanyi and his wife Shirley and his greatest joy, his 4 fabulous grandchildren: Sam, Max, Cade and little MJ.

Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, (1 street west of Main), Exeter on Saturday afternoon 1-3 PM.  A memorial golf tournament will be held in the spring to honour a one-of-a-kind husband, father, grandfather and friend.

In lieu of flowers, it was Ron’s wish that donations be made to the Jenny (McLean) Noble Family Support Fund (cheques made payable to “Jenny (McLean) Noble Family Support Fund” or cash accepted at the funeral home).

Thanks for a fine round Ron.

    Dear MJ & family:
Our condolences with the passsing of Ron. We had heard he was dealing with a medical battle but not aware how serious. Presently in Florida, the news of his passing was also delayed. Having worked side by side for a number of years I have so many good memories of that experience, as well in being neighbours and our children playing and growing up together. May our heavenly Father comfort and sustain each of you through this time of sorrow and heart felt loss.

    Dear MJ and family,
My thought and prayers are with you at this diffucult time. My memories stem back to the tobacco farm, when I KNEW it would be a great weekend if I saw you both pull in the drive for your weekend tour of duty on a Friday night. Ronnie was a light force unto himself, and he would share this with anyone and everyone.
My thoughts are also of you both coming to my surprise birthday
party. As I walked in, a man had his back to me and he slowly
turned around….it was Ronnie! I spent the ENTIRE party speaking
only to him, I did not want to appear rude to the other guests, but
it was just so good to see him. He will be missed. God Bless.

    Dear MJ and family

I am most saddened to hear Ron had passed away. It has been alittle over 40 yrs since out last encounter. Reading some of the condolences brought back many memories of the time we shared when i worked on his parents farm for 3 or 4 summers in my teenage years. Yes I too remember Ron’s passion for hot peppers and his favourite chicken paprikash. I’m not sure who was happier Ron for is favourite dinner or his mother who received all the gratitude and compliments for making it! Knowing Ron as a peer who i looked up to in my teenage years he has definitely helped me become a better person in many ways and i am very thankful for that.
My thought go out to you and your family at this time of great sadness.

    Mrs. Chanyi and family,

I was blessed to know Ron over the last 12 years. He always talked fondly of all of you when we spoke. I am a better person for knowing Ron. His friendship, warmth, gentle sense of humor and kindness will always be remembered.

Dear MJ, Jodi, Chris, Scott & Shirley….
I waited a few days to see if I could write something here and not be emotional – no such luck (sorry Jodi!)! Ron was such a great man, with his quick wit, sense of humour and love of all things spicey. A true Hungarian…who fed me my first chicken paprikash (well, MJ made it, but Ron made me try it)…and I was hooked. Some of my fondest memories from growing up take place at your house…Grampa’s wine included (although admittedly those are a little fuzzy) – and Ron’s one-liners are etched in my mind forever (“that dress is so tight you can see her……”…and you know the rest). He will be missed. So much and by so many. Our most heartfelt condolences and biggest, warmest hugs go to all of you from Jeff and I. It truly was a fine round, Ron.

    To MJ and family:
It is so hard to understand why we have to lose someone as good as Ron ~ we may never understand it. But what we do know is that he left some wonderful memories that will bring a smile to your hearts every time his face comes to your mind. It’s hard to find words to express how very sorry we are. Please accept our deepest condolences. May you soon find peace and solace for your aching hearts.

So many fond, warm memories of such a wonderful, kind, funny man — from many golf outings to the blonde wig and plenty of booze in Mexico. We will never be able to eat chciken paprikash, new kedley (sp??) nor babby chin without thinking of Ron. Sending much love, thoughts and prayers.
