ROBSON: Edward William of Middlesex Centre
Posted By Haskett Funeral Homes On January 25, 2021 @ 12:52 PM In Lucan,Obituary | 120 Comments
Quietly on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at his home in Middlesex Centre, Ed passed peacefully with his family at his side following a short and courageous battle with cancer in his 81 st year. He is survived by his loving wife Nancy (Siddall) of 54 years and devoted children Anna (Richard Morphy) of Strathroy and Keith (Leslie Orendorff) of Lucan. Proud Poppa to Emily and Adam Morphy, Spencer, John, and Cole Robson. A cherished brother-in-law to Patricia Robson (Bob Bossence), David and Lynn Siddall, and Joan Robson (Ralph Needham). Fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Ed is predeceased by his parents Gordon and Marjorie Robson as well as brothers Arthur and Charles.
Ed had a devout love for his family and his friends. He was a kind and generous man who touched the
lives of many through his gentle spirit and sense of humour. Born and raised in Middlesex Centre, Ed grew up on his family’s farm on Vanneck Rd. He continued this tradition managing his own farm on Greystead Dr. alongside his wife and children. He loved all things about the farm and would share many of his experiences with those around him. Ed drove a school bus and highway coach for over 60 years with Murphy Bus Lines and Langs Bus Lines.
This gave him an opportunity to explore unique places and meet some interesting people across the region. He always returned home with some fun stories – many of which seemed at times to be a little embellished.
Ed will be remembered for his active involvement in several community organizations where he cultivated many lifetime friendships. Ed devoted much of his time to support the Middlesex Junior Farmers (past President) and the Ilderton Lions Club (President, Zone Chairman and Deputy District Governor). At Vanneck United Church he developed his love for music singing in the Glee Club and Senior Choir. Here, he also served as an Elder, on the Board of Stewards, and was a Sunday School Superintendent. Many people will have wonderful memories of Ed’s generous volunteering, storytelling, and compassion.
A private family service will be held on Friday, January 29th at Haskett Funeral Home, Lucan. Cremation with interment at Carlisle Cemetery.
Those wishing to make a memorial donation in Ed’s name are asked to consider Craigwiel Gardens (Building a new Craigholme), Ailsa Craig.
Dear Nancy, Anna and Keith,
Our heart felt sympathy go out to you on the passing of Ed. We have many wonderful memories of Ed; whether it was cheering our boys on at the hockey rink or harvesting the corn crop on those late wet falls. We petition the God of all comfort to carry you through this difficult time.

Nancy, Anna and Keith,
What a blessing it was to get to know Ed through the Ilderton and District Lions. He openly and humbly shared his pride and love for his family and his farm. As fellow Lions saw him as a true representation of the character all Lions and all people should all aspire to in this world. His smile and enthusiasm will be missed by those of us in the Lions club who came to know him. Please know that we are thinking of you as you prepare for this difficult transition.
Dear Aunt Nancy, Anna, and Keith,
What a beautiful tribute to Uncle Ed. We know he will be missed by many and we have so many fond memories of our times with him over the years. We will miss his smile.

Larry and Kelly Miles
Dear Nancy, Anna, Keith and Family,
We will certainly miss Ed’s smiling face behind the wheel of a bus or tractor, usually somewhere on the Vanneck Rd.
My fondest memories of Ed were from the many times he drove the Junior Farmers choir to competitions in Toronto.
On one visit, Ed ate lunch with us in The Royal York Hotel. Our waiter was very proper and even offered to put each napkin on our laps for us. When it was Ed’s turn, he quickly grabbed the napkin and said “I can do it myself, thank you!” He always made our trips fun.
Linda and I wish to convey our sincere condolences to your family.
Ron & Linda McRae
Dear Nancy my condolences for you and family
