April 14, 2022 By Haskett Funeral Homes 88 Condolences

RILEY: Floyd of Centralia

Passed away suddenly at his home in Centralia on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at the age of 71. Cherished husband of the late Lynda (Kerr) Riley (2017). Proud father of Noreen and Doug Smith of Centralia, Butch and Shelly Riley of Huron Park, and Tina and Brad Ankers of Exeter. Loving grandpa “Rooster” of Caitlyn (John), Jordan, Samantha (Greg), William (Sophie); Derriane, Madison (Kurt), Tyson, Reed; Kara, Dannika, Hailie, and Darlene. Dear great-grandpa of Hudson, and Harlee. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Rob and Tracey Riley of London, Carolyn and Randy Redmond of Huron Park, Bill Dixon of London, Dave Kennedy of Mildmay, Kevin Kerr of Bayfield, and Ingrid Kerr of Clinton. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents William and Elaine (Glanville) Riley, parents-in-law Alex and Norine Kerr, step mother-in-law Audrey Kerr, brothers, Don Riley, Ron Riley, sisters, Cheryl Kennedy, Marilyn Dixon, Joanne McLaren, sisters-in-law Gayle (Hickson) Riley, Lynn Kerr and Karen Eaton and brothers-in-law, Bill Kerr, and Clendon Kerr. Special thanks to Floyds friends, Lee Albinston, Russell Pfaff, and Richie Lather for their years of friendship and Dr. Patel at South Huron Medical Centre and the healthcare team at St. Joseph’s Hospital and LHSC – Victoria Hospital for their care and compassion.

Floyd worked at the Ford plant in Talbotville for over 30 years. He was a proud member of the Lucan Legion, Branch 540. He loved to play guitar and entertain his family, friends and anyone who would listen. Even if the lyrics weren’t right, everyone enjoyed his musical talents.

Keeping with Floyd’s wishes, cremation has taken place with a family interment to be held at Exeter Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at the Crediton Community Centre, 38 Victoria Avenue, Crediton on Saturday, May 14th from 1 – 4 PM.

Donations to Canadian Cancer Society or Jessica’s House would be appreciated by the family.

This is such a sad thing to read, Losing the head of your family,, the first man you have ever loved,, the one who has taught you so much,,, and meant so much to each of you,, is one of the toughest things in this life that we have to go through.. Floyd was a friend to so many, he always had that huge smile,, and welcoming banter every time I saw him. It didn’t matter if it was a year since I had last seen him,, or a month,, he always reacted in the exact same way. I remember him playing his guitar and singing,, at our Lucan Bowling Banquets. He always had us up dancing when he did. I know the feeling of emptiness when you realize that both your parents are now gone,, it is a feeling like no other. No matter what our ages are,, it is the strangest emotion to have to deal with. I know you have such wonderful memories of your Dad. I for one, will always remember your Dad with fondness, and it will bring a smile to my face,, because that what what it was like when ever I did see him…Hugs to you all…
