REVINGTON: Frederick “Fred” Sheridan formerly of Lucan

December 18, 2018 By Haskett Funeral Homes 29 Condolences

REVINGTON: Frederick “Fred” Sheridan formerly of Lucan

On Monday, December 17th, with daughter Robin by his side, Fred, in his 90th year, passed peacefully at Craigwiel Gardens in Ailsa Craig. He is predeceased by his parents Wes and Alma and step-mother Bernice, by sisters Audrey, Norene and Rose and by brothers Donald, Harvey, Leroy and Glenn. He is survived by his loving sister Anne, brother Ron, and Robin’s mother, LaVerne. Family was very important to Fred and he took great pride in his many nieces and nephews and their families. He will be forever loved by his devoted daughter, Robin whom he cherished dearly.

When it came to sports, Fred was always up for a round of golf with Doc, Jens, any one of the guys, or Robin, but hockey was his game. His years as center and captain with the renowned Lucan Irish Six were some of the best. From playing with the Habs in 1952 to winning the OHA Intermediate ‘C’ Championship against Mildmay in 1954, hockey was in his heart. His deep understanding of the game extended to his keenly accurate analysis offered as couch commentary during Saturday’s Hockey Night in Canada. The Stanley Cup’s recent visit to Craigwiel Gardens completed Fred’s hockey dream.

Robin and LaVerne would especially like to thank all the wonderful Craigwiel Gardens’ staff, as well as family and friends for their unwavering care and kindness provided to Fred over the past four years. Cremation has taken place and, in keeping with Fred’s wishes, neither funeral home visitation nor service will take place. He will be laid to rest with his family in St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye during a private service to be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Haskett Funeral Home, Lucan (519-227-4211).

As tribute to his passion, donations in memory of Fred can be made to the Lucan Minor Hockey Association. Cheques can be made payable to Lucan Minor Hockey Association and mailed to Haskett Funeral Home, Lucan.

Laverne and Robin, Fred and I shared a beautiful scene on one of the few days in early Dec with sunshine and snowflakes falling down outside the hall window; we both had an” aha” moment which really didn’t need a conversation. Conversation was always one sided but smiles were always available. It was nice to meet you Robin and you and your Mom have Dale and my sympathy. Dale and Linda Froats
