Grace was truly a lady and one that we thought would alway be here. Shocked and saddened to hear that she has passed away. Our hearts go out to you at this gut wrenching time of facing grief and the loss of a mom and grandma. Every year Grace and I exchanged cards and letters and her ability to write a heartfelt letter about her overwhelming love for her family was always a pleasure to read and I looked forward so much to hearing from her.
Life as you knew it has changed forever Joan but you hang on tight to every memory of your mom and lean on those memories to get you through each day one day at a time. Love you so much.

    P.S. A Small Poem

    As We Look Back
As we look back over time
    We find ourselves wondering …..
Did we remember to thank you enough
For all you have done for us?
For all the times you were by our sides
To help and support us …..
    To celebrate our successes
    To understand our problems
    And accept our defeats?
Or for teaching us by your example,
The value of hard work, good judgement,
    Courage and integrity?
We wonder if we ever thanked you
    For the sacrifices you made.
To let us have the very best?
    And for the simple things
Like laughter, smiles and times we shared?
If we have forgotten to show our
Gratitude enough for all the things you did,
    We’re thanking you now.
And we are hoping you knew all along,

How much you meant to us

Grace was a special lady! I have very fond memories of baking cookies, looking at her stamp collection and playing ants in the pants with her as a child. She was always so much fun! Great hugs when needed and a laugh and smile to make any day better! She had a way of making you know that you were loved just with that smile! Sending my sincere condolences to your family. May you find some comfort in your memories of Grace and the wonderful woman she was.

To the Pym family, it was difficult to chat with each of you today so we want you to know how much we respected Grace. She was so very proud of each of you and of each of your children. She would call quite often just to bring us up-to-date on what everyone was doing and where they were, and also to keep track of our family. She was so very kind to Lillian over the years and we appreciated her remembering each of us. Her faith kept her strong and will hopefully help each of you now. Keep the memories really close to your hearts and know how much she will be missed by so many.

Joan, Brian, Elaine, Al and families,
Thinking of the fun times shared at the Pym farm on summer holidays, the bridal shower Aunt Grace & you girls held for me at the Elimville United Church basement….not knowing I would end up around the corner from that building a few years later. Aunt Grace holds a special place in all of our hearts, always interested and asking the kids about their lives. It was an honour to watch her love of community and faith over the years. She will be missed. Sending love to you all.

Our deepest sympathy to the Pym family. Grace was a wonderful individual. She was always so interested in each member of my family and showed her care and concern when anyone was ill. She was a devoted person to her church and her work with the church at any and all levels. Grace showed her strong beliefs through her actions and her many kind and encouraging words. She has left a wonderful mark on her friends, her church and the larger church community. We were all blessed by the presence of Grace in our life. She truly lived out her name Grace, by offering grace to others. God Bless.

  24. Shirley J. Norman

    May 8, 2016 at 9:07 PM

    Joan & family,
Please accept my heartfelt sympathy in the loss of your Mom. What a coincidence it was when we were able to teach side by side in Kitchener and our mothers had grown up in the same community many years earlier. Your Mom was always eager to inquire about family as the years passed and I would see her at Holmesville celebrations. She was indeed a wonderful lady and I know you will miss her dearly. Keep your many happy memories alive and take care of one another.
    Sincerely, Shirley Norman

    Dear Grace,
Although I have missed Marg immensely, it was always a great comfort to know that you were always there to go to. It took the edge off a little bit to see your smile and kind eyes – so familiar. A hug made it that much better. Now the two of you will be laughing and telling funny stories while Howard will be sitting by ~ watching and smiling. Happy Mother’s Day! On August 1st I will be in Elimville to visit with all of you. Love for now, until we meet again, Heather.

    Dear Family,

Grace….her name was, and is, a reflection of how she lived her life. Coupled with her strong faith in God, Grace gave community leadership, shared her beautiful voice on many occasions and kept the community talking when both she and Mom celebrated the Canadian Centennial year with a pregnancy. Our Catherine , Your Alan have both turned out very well! The strongest language she ever used was a quick, “Well for heck sakes!” That always made me smile. Certainly, life was not without challenges , but always, Grace and Faith carried the day. A good helping of Love and Charity as well. All keys to her life story.
We will remember the many times Grace shared family celebrations with Mom. I remember singing in the Elimville choir with her. I remember Grace as a VBS leader when I was a teen assistant. I can see her all dressed up as a character for a Mock Wedding at a community Bridal shower. Often the Preacher. Mom the Pianist . We remember shared tears when Margie left us and when Howard died as well.
Through it all there was’ Grace’ . A Grace shared with everyone she met, whether a smile, a chuckle, or a song. Those of us who have shared any time at all with Grace were blessed . As Elaine says in her note…there were times when she carried us. You as family are blessed. The Johns clan are better for knowing your Mother and Grandmother. We are saddened , but know the conversation, and music in Heaven today, is just taking up where it left off a few years ago. We remember Grace with joy. Love to all………..”for heck sakes!”

    May 6, 2016 at 5:56 PM

To Grace’s Family – I must write and say how sad we are to hear the news of your dear Mom and Grandma passing away. What wonderful memories both Cliff and I have of this strong, caring and faithful lady. Always a smile. Always an interest in our family. Both of your parents bring me warm thoughts of Elimville. Your dad teaching Sunday School and your mom doing all sorts of things but right now I think of her singing. She and I did duets together on several occasions. How she carried me at Catherine’s wedding as we sang Bless This House together. Well, she sang and I cried mostly!! Yes, she carried me through it. She sang at our wedding forty-four years ago this summer. As I see this picture you have selected it immediately reminds me that she was our guest at Mom’s 80th birthday party. I have this exact picture in my photo album. Losing your mom just at Mother’s Day cannot be easy but I expect, in time, you will find it just perfect timing. “A life well lived’ in the truest sense of the phrase!! Please accept our deepest sympathy.
