
Peacefully, with family at her side, at AgeCare Parkhill, on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at the age of 90. Beloved wife of the late George Prest (1997). Loving mother of Cindy Davidson of Ladysmith, B.C., and the late Bill Prest (2019) (Bonnie Verbruggen). Fondly remembered by Kevin Davidson. Much-loved grandma of Scott Prest (Tonya) of Ailsa Craig, Teri Caron (Joedy) of London, Crystal McNab (Marty) of Brooklin, Jennifer Foden (Mike) of Toronto, and Stephanie Foden (Maciek) of Zurich, Switzerland. Proud great grandma of Kaiya, Kieran, Anita, and Paige. Dear sister of John van Sickle (Marg) and Emily Gratton. Betty will be fondly remembered as well by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by her parents Cecil & Pricilla Ellwood, sisters Lois Whittard (Ben) and Aileen Odd (Lloyd) and brother Jack Ellwood, sister-in-law Agnes Shepherd (Elmer), and brother-in-law Marwood Prest (Marjorie).
Betty was a dedicated RPN, working at Chateau Gardens in Parkhill for over 25 years. Betty will be missed by her family, friends, church family, neighbours, former co-workers and caregivers. She touched many lives because of her kindness and generosity. She loved spending time with her family and always encouraged them to follow their dreams. Betty was a woman of strong faith and cherished her role as Sunday School Grandmother at Brinsley United Church where she attended her entire life. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, LUCAN, on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 PM, where the funeral service will be held on Monday, October 7th, at 11 AM, with Rev. Ken Taylor officiating. Interment at Mars Hill Cemetery, Brinsley.
