    My heartfelt sympathy to all of Bills loved ones. Bill was one of the friendliest and kindest men I knew. My son still talks about going to Bills for his haircuts and the great penny candy. Granton will never be the same without him. I remember his kind visit to the funeral when Deb passed away and thought what a wonderful friend he was to everyone. He will be greatly missed by all.

    Dearest Billy;

    Three generations on both sides of our family shared with Billy! I remember when I was a little girl and my Mom would write a note of things she wanted from Billies for me to get for her. I also remember being greeted by Bills Mother Ethel. When Randy was young he and his Dad Ross used to come into town for a pop at Bills once a week. So glad that our children got to know him like we did. We learned a lot about “History” from Bill. Him and Helen where the perfect pair and happy they are together again. Not only was Billy a true Granton Icon; so was the motor bike bbq he had faithfully every year! Also Billies bicycle skills where pretty outstanding!!

    Glad that we got to see him for a visit in St. Mary’s Hospital before he passed away. When he saw Mya he said “Hi sweetie” with a smile on his face! I’m glad I got to tell him that I loved him and to hear him say that he loved me too was so nice. Thank you for the memories buddy Billy! You will sure be missed here!! Our very deepest condolences to his extensive family. Rest in peace our friend; rest in peace! ?
    Love Randy, Sandra, Jackson, Mya and Olivia McCurdy!

    I am very sad to hear the passing of Bill. I will always remember him fondly. He was always such a nice man even to all us rowdy kids. He must have got tired of us hanging out on his porch as he was trying to run a business. But we knew what a terrific guy he was, and not once did he ever get mad at us. Will be thinking of you, his family in this time of sorrow. Dianne Girdler (Malcolm)

    Our sincere and heartfelt condolences go out to the entire family and extended family. Bill was a ‘fixture’ in Granton and he will be remembered fondly by so many who are still there, as well as those who grew up in the village and have moved on. From the days when he had the pool hall and barbershop next to the hardware, and then over to the barbershop and variety in the front of the house….he was a neighbour, and by all means an ‘ear’ to listen to so many – young or old, over the years. He was a father to my best friend in childhood and I have fond memories of sipping on a pop or slurping a popsicle that we were often afforded from his coolers! May your best memories carry you through this sad time, …..R.I.P. Bill.

  51. Kelly and Rose O'Connor

    March 25, 2016 at 9:36 PM

    Many, many memories of Bill, going back a very long time to childhood haircuts, spending time in the old pool hall and in recent years enjoying his visits to the Lucan Legion…he was quite a guy. Our condolences to all of his family; Bill had a great life.

    March 25, 2016 at 9:27 PM

    To Bill’s Family….I was so sorry to read of Bills passing…He was an icon of Granton…from riding his bicycle ,backward style, in the Granton Funday parades, to dressing in his finest attire and attending all the funerals of Granton community townspeople to pay his respect….His shop was a reminder of simpler times where you knew everyone in the village and it was like a step back in time….very comforting and reassuring….We will miss Bill and all the wonderful memories of days gone by……Respectfully yours Don , Heather and Family…
