PATTYN: Jules of Bryanston

November 7, 2020 By Haskett Funeral Homes 77 Condolences

PATTYN: Jules of Bryanston

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Jules age 69 on November 6, at home, with his loving wife of 48 years, Michele (DeCourcy). Adored father to Nicole (Pattyn) and Kevin Lefebvre, Robert and Cheryl (Shipley) Pattyn, and Jules and Sarah (Cabral) Pattyn. He was a proud grandfather aka “Papa” to Sophie, Andre and Margot Lefebvre, Brittany, Matthew, and Ethan Pattyn, Isabella and Olivia Pattyn. Born in London Ontario, he was the beloved son of Robert Pattyn (predeceased) and Jeannine Pattyn, and dear brother to Linda (Pattyn) and Ronald Vandendriessche, Juliana (Pattyn) and David Marr, Mary Ann (Pattyn) and Steven Montour, and Emil and Debbie (Christie) Pattyn. Predeceased by brother Robert Pattyn Jr. in France. He was cherished by his mother and father-in-law Joseph DeCourcy and Maureen (McCabe) (predeceased). Much loved brother-in-law to MaryJo DeCourcy and Gord Patterson (predeceased) and Paulette DeCourcy and Don McGillawee. He will be missed by his nephews and their families, and all his extended family here in Canada and in France.

Jules was a hard-working man and was dedicated to his passion as a Landscaper his entire life.  He proudly worked alongside his two sons, who together, created their successful company, PLS. Underneath his tough exterior, Jules was a kind man always willing to lend a hand or give someone an opportunity with an honest job. Although spending time on his tractor in his sod fields and moving dirt around with a backhoe were some of his favourite pastimes, he loved nothing more than spending time with his family.  When not on his tractor, he and Michele loved to travel together and spent many vacations with their children, family and friends.  These trips will be fond memories for all of us.

A drive-thru visitation will be held on Monday from 11AM-1PM at the Pattyn’s home, 15915 Ilderton Road. You are kindly asked to enter in the West driveway and to please remain in your vehicle.

Visitation will continue at Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, Lucan on Monday from 4-6 PM. Due to Provincial COVID-19 restrictions, each person must RSVP for the visitation in the funeral home. Please click “Register Now” below to register.

A private family Mass will be celebrated from St. Patricks Church, Lucan on Tuesday, November 10th at 2 PM. Though the service is private, the family invites you to join with them from the comfort of your home. Stream the service live by visiting www.facebook.com/haskettfh. Cremation with interment St. Patricks Cemetery.

If desired, donations to the Arthritis Society would be appreciated by the family.

I have many great memories of Mr. Pattyn from our childhood that still make me smile including when we all went to Florida and he rented a pontoon boat for us and then videotaped Nicole and my parasailing experience on the beach! He always made me laugh and I remember his warm smile and how he was always ready to help Nicole’s friends.

I am truly blessed to have known Mr. Pattyn. I hope your memories will offer you comfort at this time.

I am very sad to hear the news of Jules passing. I first met him as a customer, but felt that over the last 35 years our relationship was more like friends .We had many conversations on many different subjects, not always trucks.
I was also fortunate to know many of his family members, including his father and his sons as well as others.
I always felt they were a hard working stand up family.

Heartfelt condolences to the Pattyn family on the sudden unexpected passing of Jules.
Jules recently dropped by the house to discuss a dozer issue and upon noticing bare spots on my lawn, immediately said he could fix it. His recent surgery was not going to slow him down.

It was a joy seeing Jules working as a father and son team with helping Rob on the ever challenging development on my farm and he will be sorely missed.
