November 5, 2020 By Haskett Funeral Homes 146 Condolences

OVERHOLT: Yvonne Monica (Ducharme) of Zurich

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Yvonne Overholt, on Monday, November 2, 2020. Yvonne was predeceased by the love of her life and soul mate, Phil (2004), and after almost 17 years, they are finally reunited. Along with being a woman of incredible faith, mom was an avid canner, loved to cook, quilt and knit. She is survived by her children Barry and Karen Overholt of Exeter, Sandy and Joe Overholt of London, Nancy Becker and Brian Klooster of Waterdown, and Dwayne and Jodi Overholt of Exeter. Mom was graced with having 10 beautiful grandchildren: Ashley Brooks and Mike, Magen Overholt, Scott Overholt and Emily; Melanie Fitzgerald, Stacey Connors and Jeff, Candace Becker-Soudant and Mark, Breanne Becker, Alyssa Becker; Tyler Overholt, Nick Overholt and Karissa. She was also very blessed to have 11 great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Gerry and Mary Ducharme, Annette Overholt, Ken and Jo-Ann Ducharme, Barbara and Dick Rau, Marilyn Hassall, Dianne Wilson, Carol Ducharme, Ruth Ducharme, Marilyn Thiel, Bridget Overholt, Mary Overholt, and Linda and Phil Regier. Yvonne was predeceased by her parents Louis and Theresa (Sreenan) Ducharme; brothers, sisters and their spouses Cecilia and Leonard Tocker, Donald and Lorraine Ducharme, Marjorie and Ivan Meidinger, Eugene Ducharme, Rose and Dennis Overholt, Charles Ducharme, Larry Ducharme, and great granddaughter, Grace Soudant.

A private family Funeral Mass will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Zurich on Saturday, November 7th at 1 PM with Father Gary Ducharme and Father Matthew George presiding. Interment St. Peter’s Cemetery, St. Joseph. Though the Funeral Mass is private, the family invites you to join with them from the comfort of your home. Stream the service live by visiting  www.facebook.com/haskettfh.

We will be forever grateful to all the medical professionals who helped her for many years; Dr. Josefson (Family Physician), Dr. Chu (Cardiothoracic Surgeon), Dr. De (Cardiologist), the South West Local Health Integration Network, St. Elizabeth Health Care and all of their support staff, the nurses and many doctors at University Hospital and South Huron Hospital who took great care of our Mom over the years and provided compassion, comfort and healing when mom was not well.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made to St. Boniface Church, South Huron Hospital Foundation, or Jessica’s House would be appreciated by the family.

My deepest sympathy to Barry, Sandy, Nancy, Dwayne and families (and to the Overholt and Ducharme families.) I was so very saddened to hear about your mom/grandma. So many great memories of her kindness, her beautiful smile, and her giggle. Especially when she was giggling at something your dad said or did. They were a beautiful couple and I’m sure it brings comfort knowing they’re together again. Still, you’ve lost a loving mom and grandma and I wish I could give you all big hugs and share my condolences in person. Know that I’m thinking of you all and send much love from Ottawa.

Vonnies smile was one of the first smiles, l recall , at the French school which l attended after moving from Detroit Michigan with my Sweeney family. I was invited for sleep overs at the family farm . How amazed l was at the big family and all the activity that went on. Little did l know that in a few years our household would be the same with the little Gelinas brothers and sisters. Some sixty years later Vonnie still had that smile to share no matter where or when we met., … See what a smile can do! My deepest sympathies to both the Ducharme and Overholt famines. Rest In Peace Vonnie….. With prayers ..

Barry, Sandy, Nancy, Dwayne, and the extended Overholt family. While very saddened to hear of your beautiful Mom’s passing, at the the same time I was filled with Joy that she and your Dad, were once again united. As many have said, I too have wonderful memories of them both. I often got to indulge in your Mom’s wonderful treats, especially at Christmas time when she would send large trays into work with Phil. I know the strong love they had for each other, and for all of you. It is this love that will sustain you in these coming days. They were so proud of their beautiful family. They will watch over you always.💞🤗💞
