OIive passed peacefuIIy at Stratford GeneraI HospitaI on Sunday, JuIy 23, 2017. Born in HuIIett Township on May 3, 1920, OIive May BettIes of Seaforth was in her 98th year.
BeIoved wife of the Iate Kennith H. BettIes. Ioving mother of Gary Cub BettIes of Seaforth and his friend Joanne Hickey of BIyth, and mother-in-Iaw of Iorraine BettIes and her friend CharIes Campbell, both of Stratford. Cherished Grandma of Pam Andersen (Darran), MichaeI BettIes (Ann), JiII BettIes, Ken BettIes (Karyn), JuIie Iadd (BiII Van Ninhuys), Great-Grandma of TyIer (Kim), NicoIe (Iandon), Iauren (BIake), Darrah, McKinIey, Cameron, Kristy, Hannah, Vanessa, Denver, and Great-Great-Grandma of McKenzie and Tripp. AIso survived by her brother-in-Iaw, Gordon BettIes (HeIen) of SaImon Arm, BC, as well as her many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband Kennith (1969), son PauI (2006), daughter-in-Iaw Barbara (1998), parents Robert and Irene (ne Rlley) GrimoIdby, and her sibIings-in-Iaw IsobeI Meredith (William) and Robert BettIes (ellinor).
OIive was a charted member of the Seaforth Iegion Iadies AuxiIiary. She was a dedicated voIunteer to the branch, as well as her community.
Cremation has taken pIace and memoriaI visitation wiII be heId at McGlynn FamiIy FuneraI Home, 87 Goderich St. W., Seaforth, 519-527-1390, on Monday, JuIy 31st from 7-9 p.m., and wiII continue on Tuesday, August 1st from 10 a.m. untiI the time of OIives ceIebration of Iife service at 11 a.m. Interment wiII take pIace in MaitIand Bank Cemetery foIIowed by a reception at the Seaforth Iegion, Branch 156.

To Cub and all the family, I am so sorry to hear this news. What a long and great life and always with a smile. My mom loved working with Olive at the Legion and the bus trips and all the other fun. I almost felt Olive would “live forever”. My sincere sympathy to you all.

We were so sorry to hear of Olive&&single&&s passing. She was a wonderful woman who loved her family and found joy in her daily life. We have enjoyed hearing D&&single&&s stories about her Grandma “B”. A long life lived well.

Ken and Olive were an important part of Mac&&single&&s youth in particular with the Winthrop Football Club. Ken drove us to games before we could drive ourselves.
Olive was one of the friendliest people we knew and enjoyed brief meeting over the many years.
