Peacefully, with his family by his side at LHSC Victoria Hospital on Saturday, July 3, of Lucan in his 46th year. Loving husband of Denise Laplante (Root). Adoring father to Caitlin. Beloved son of Ron and Marlene Laplante and son-in-law of Marlene Root all of London. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Cathy Cake and Graham Leigh of St. Marys, Steve and Alison Laplante, Wendy Mead and Garth Tanner and Anna Godoy all of London; Deb and Gary Taylor of London, Diane Winger of Ridgeway and Doug Root of London. Several nieces and nephews will miss their uncle Mike. A dear friend to Jason Clark, Cathy, Mike, Julia, David and Sean Haggarty. You dont know me but I spent time with Mike at CHI. For the 10 days we spent there, it seemed like I knew him for a life time. He was a great guy. I am so sorry I only found out today about his passing. He has been on my mind for a while. At CHI we where good support for each other, at a time it was so hard to be away from our familys as we both were missing home. Like Mike would say I am missing my girls. Again I am so sorry for your loss. Chris Crocker.

Mike was one of the most extraordinary Human Beings I have known. Since I met him we established a real and sincere friendship a special friendship through it we shared sometimes our thoughts not just about work, it was about life, about anything and I discovered that special soul, a special man, a special pure and authentic life and I would say the best Canadian I have met since I am in Canada.
He was an artist, a real one and I will miss him forever !!
My present work will be specially dedicated to his memory.

I’ve known Mike since high school where we got into plenty of fun together. We used to have J&M Painting, (John & Mike) when we used to paint and do renovations. Mike was the hard worker – he was so responsible, and he was the guy who made things go right.

We hadn’t kept in touch over the years but we saw each other a month ago and he had dinner at our house.

Mike was a beautiful soul – he was so gentle, calm and good natured.

Good bye Mike and, wherever your going I know you will be loved.

    Love, John

Our deepest sympathy to you and your family at this time. We live at the end of your street and our boys had many chats with Mike as they picked apples at your place, and in walking past. Mike was the kind of neighbour anyone would want. He always took the time to acknowledge you as you drove past with a friendly smile and wave. In walking by he would always chat and he just cared to take the time and that meant a lot to us and our boys.
    Thinking of you,
    Shannon, Dave, Jesse & Blake

We are very sad to hear of Mike’s passing. James and I have not seen Mike for some time now, but remember him and your family fondly from when we first moved to Linwood Street in London. Not knowing he was ill, we were just talking about all of you this past weekend – about how fabulous you all were to have as neighbors. It was obvious he was a great and dedicated family man. We hope you find peace and comfort Denise and Caitlin. We will be praying for you.

    God Bless,

I have known Mike for almost 30 years. He was such a good man. he loved and cherished his family and friends dearly. Jason, Steve, Brenda, and myself had many many years of great times and laughs together. He will be terribly missed, but we know that he will always be here with his family and friends. He was a living hero, and a walking angel. He has been promoted to a Top Angel now, to watch over all of us, and make us smile when any of us are down.
He always looked at the bright side of things and had a positive outlook on life. Family was always number one with Mike, right until the end. Our deepest condolences from the Kennedy Clan, we all are thinking of you and you are all in our prayers.
    Karen Kennedy.
