Sincere sympathy to the Medd Family:
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very difficult time.
When we moved to Ilderton, just down the street from Marie & Don and the boys, they were one of the first families to welcome us to
community, and we all enjoyed a wonderful friendship with them.
Don was especially helpful to Mark with repairs and maintenance
to his snowmobile and rusty pick up truck.
His devoted work with the community hockey teams and the Ilderton Lions Club were also one of his notable accomplishments –
always helping others.
Sincere Sympathy
Jack & Marie Bannon & family .
I am very sad to hear about Don’s passing. I taught at Emily Carr when Don was the principal there, and he was kind and caring to both the students and the teachers. I appreciated how he supported the teachers, and would always take the time to listen to concerns, and offer encouragement. I feel honoured to have known him, and to have taught under his leadership. My heart goes out to all his family in their loss.
Marie, John, Paul and Arron….

To the Medd family
I was a student at SS 8 McKillop school where Mr. Medd started his teaching career. He boarded with my music teacher, Toleda Beuermann, who lived just up the road from our farm. He made a visit about a year ago to the area and met with some of the former students. They took him to visit the old school; took pictures and showed them to me. I was so disappointed that they were not able to get in touch with me to join the “reunion”. I remember him taking us for an outing to a local bush. Some of us did not stay with the group. Mr. Medd was very upset with us and to punish us, he said that we would have to write all June exams (which we could avoid if our marks were high enough). We did deserve the verdict! The next morning he said that he had changed his mind! I’ll never forget him. He was an awesome teacher, mentor and very, very handsome!
Last saw Don at a Medway reunion. He was such a special person-so kind to all.
I was looking for your dad on the Internet and was sad to see that he had passed away. I was a student of his in 1962 at Manor and Highland Park public school. I always thought he was the kindest and most thoughtful teacher I had ever had. I still have a piece of art we did at the end of the 8th grade. I was so shy and didn’t want to sit in front of the class while he drew a silhouette of my face. It was special to me and that is why I kept it.
I looked for him a few years ago and found out he lived in Strathroy, I talked to him for a couple of years.
I asked my son if he would take me to see him, it was a nice visit.
I’ll never forget my favourite teacher.
