McRAE: Dorothy Elizabeth (Knapp) of Ilderton and formerly of Denfield

Peacefully, with family by her side at Country Terrace Nursing Home, Komoka on Monday, March 26, 2018 of Ilderton and formerly of RR1 Denfield in her 93rd year. Beloved wife of the late A. Murray McRae (2011) for 62 years. Dear mother of Doug and Brenda McRae of Port Dover, Ron and Linda McRae of Denfield, Marjorie and Paul Johnson of London, Barbara and Larry McGill of Glencoe, the late Mary Beth (2007) and Bill Thomas of Coldstream, and Laurie and Brent Fowles of Ilderton. Dear grandmother of 24 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Audrey Gillespie of Cambridge and Kay McRae of Ayr. Predeceased by brothers Norman (Infant) and Wallace and his wife Peggy Knapp, brother-in-law Jack Gillespie, brother-in-law Ian McRae, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jessie and Charlie Mackie. Also missed by her nieces and nephews. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Country Terrace for their care and compassion. Dorothy was proud to be one of five women that graduated from the University of Guelph – Ontario Agriculture College in 1949. She was a long time member of the Vanneck United Church UCW and lifetime supporter of the Ilderton Fair.
Friends may call at the Vanneck United Church, 22651 Vanneck Road, Ilderton on Saturday, March 31st from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm where the funeral service will be held at 1pm with Rev. Mark Bellamy officiating. Interment Telfer Cemetery. Haskett Funeral Home, Lucan (519-227-4211) entrusted with arrangements.
Donations to Vanneck United Church or Sleeping Children Around the World would be appreciated by the family.
