What wonderful comments I’m reading about what an impact Lauralee had on her students and parents.
When our son Logan started playing baseball in Exeter, most of the boys or their parents knew of my cousin Mrs.McCormack and had nothing but great things to say about Lauralee, it made me proud to be her cousin.
We will miss your laugh and beautiful smile at our family gatherings but we know you will always be with us in spirit.

I was very fortunate to have had the pleasure to work with Lauralee at EPS. I worked as an educational assistant in her classroom. I was new to the school and she immediately made me feel so welcome and included in her classroom. I remember her always being so patient, positive and kind. Even on the hard days we would always end it with a positive talk or a good laugh.
One thing that became very apparent to me was Lauralee’s love for her family. She often talked about her parents, her brother, Mike and of course Sean and Lauren. I can remember Lauren coming to class with her Mom on PA days. My children were only few years younger than Sean and Lauren so we often had some good talks about our kids. During the time I was working at EPS I was a young single mom. I was so appreciative that Lauralee gave me some of Lauren’s clothes for my daughters. This is just an example of how kind and generous Lauralee was and how she was quick to help anyone in need.
A few years after I left EPS I was very excited to learn that Lauralee would be my daughter’s grade one teacher. Brittany had a great year with her in grade one and tells me that Mrs. McCormack was her favourite teacher. I enjoyed volunteering in Lauralee’s class that year and also enjoyed supplying in her classroom over the years.
I have lost touch with Lauralee the last few years but I will never forget the time that we spent together or the positive impact she had on my life or how lucky Brittany was to have her for a grade one teacher. Working with her was the most rewarding experience of my educational career.
My deepest condolences to Lauralee’s family and friends. She was an angel among us.
    Love,
    Lori and Brittany Miller

She also really knew how to throw a great party or retreat, that resulted in many great memories that I will cherish. Lauralee will be greatly missed. Thinking of you all.

Lauralee was one of the kindest, most genuine and positive people I have ever met. I not only went to Exeter Elementary as a child and remember thinking how beautiful she was, but years later, also had the privilege of working with Lauralee for the past 10 years. Lauralee was the kind of person, mother, wife and teacher that I have always and will continue to aspire to be like. She not only touched hundreds of children’s lives, but she also made a difference in her colleagues lives. Even while on her leave, Lauralee was thinking of others and would often email to check in to see what was going on with my own family. Whether in her classroom or in her home, she always had a warm smile and immediately made you feel welcome. A beautiful soul! I feel fortunate to have known her. She will be missed by so many. My condolences to her family.

My sincerest condolences to Lauralee’s family on this loss of a wonderful wife, mother, daughter and friend. Lauralee was very special. From the moment you met her she exhibited interest in you, warmth, caring and concern and did it all with a genuine smile and feeling from the heart. This is the way she taught each and every child she came in contact with as well. I had the privilege of teaching at EPS with Lauralee, meeting her at Green Haven years before that and seeing her on occasion after I left EPS. The warmth I felt in chatting with her never changed, no matter how long a time there was between chats. She was indeed a genuine treasure. She will be missed. God Bless her family and friends.

Dear Mike, Sean and Lauren; Howard, Sandra and Jason,

My heart is broken for all of you that Lauralee has been called home. I will forever be grateful and blessed that our paths crossed more than 25 years ago at Exeter Public School and that I had the opportunity to call her a dear friend.

Lauralee lit up any room that she entered with her beautiful smile and her laughter. She had the most positive outlook on life, family, work and the world. Lauralee was the kindest and most genuine person and she truly loved being a wife, mom and teacher. Even after students left her classroom, she always cared about them and enjoyed knowing what they were doing years later. Watching Sean and Lauren grow up has been so special. Family was everything to Lauralee.

Lauralee holds a very special place in my heart and she will never be forgotten. Although I struggle to understand how Lauralee’s time on earth could possibly be over; I will celebrate all of the wonderful memories and be grateful for them because she has blessed my life beyond measure.

    Love,
    Kathy Thiel

I am so sad to hear of Lauralee’s death. At E.P.S, she was like my “work-daughter” and I am glad we have kept in touch since I retired, and during her leave. She was truly an enthusiastic and passionate life-long learner and I am happy to think that her ukulele brought her joy during her battle with cancer. Sadly covid suddenly ended our opportunities to strum together.
I will miss her, and offer my deepest condolences to her parents, and Mike and Sean and Lauren – and everyone who loved Lauralee.

Many years have now gone by since I’ve had the pleasure of running into Lauralee or as I have known her as Mrs Mc Cormack so much to the last time we spoke years ago when I was completing my co-op placement back at EPS one day while catching up and telling her about my exciting journey that would like ahead she finally told me to consider her a friend other than a teacher which touched my heart. Always a warm hello and a friendly conversation that followed.

I had the pleasure of having her as one of my teachers during my years at Exeter Public School. I think I can speak for many of her students it was a blessing to have her as part of our lives growing up who truly left her mark within our lives. She was a ray of sunshine who lit up the room. A beautiful soul inside and out who went above and beyond for her students. Always an open door, an ear to listen, kindness to share and a keen sense of excitement for her lessons…

I was so very saddened to hear Lauralee’s passing. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. My heart breaks for your family, friends and colleagues. Holding you all close to my heart and sending you love during this very sad time. Take care of each other

    Sandra, Howard, Mike and family,
I am heartbroken with Lauralee’s passing! She was a very dear friend, and I loved her like a sister! She was as beautiful on the outside as she was on the inside. She was so kind and caring, and never had a bad word to say about anybody. She was always so positive and upbeat! We had such great times together over the years as the “retreat planners” at Exeter Public School! What one didn’t think of – the other one did! We were trouble – ha, ha! We shared a lot of giggles together and I will never forget the good times I had with her. She will always live on in my heart as one of my besties!

Sending big hugs and lots of love to all. I am so deeply saddened at such a great loss. 💔
