MCCARTER: Gordon James of Hensall

Passed away at LHSC – Victoria Hospital on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Marg (Webber) McCarter for 61 years. Cherished father of Gerry McCarter, Larry and Leona McCarter, and Dan and Vicki McCarter. Adored grandfather of Samantha and Mike Hood, Brittany and Tanner Merner; Justin McCarter, Jordan McCarter; Kaitlyn McCarter and Bryce Vantyghem, and Olivia McCarter and Jared Roy, and great-grandfather of Lachlan Merner. Loving son-in-law of Helen Webber. Brother and brother-in-law of Ken and Joyce McCarter, Marion McCarter, Barb and Larry Ratz, Marlene O’Brien, and Doug and Patty Webber. Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and the Easy Street Gang. Predeceased by brother Laverne McCarter, parents Eva (Robinson) and Jim McCarter, and father-in-law Lee Webber.

Gordon was born and grew up in Watford ON until moving to Exeter at the age of 9. Throughout his working life he worked as a carpenter, welder and at the Canadian Canners processing plant in Exeter. In his free time he enjoyed camping, curling, fishing, golfing, and snowmobiling. He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humour and down to earth attitude.

A private family memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 30th at 11AM. Cremation has taken place. Interment Exeter Cemetery.

    Marg and family, I worked at the canners for many years with Gord as my boss. He was a great guy to work for. He didn’t mind us having some fun while we were working as long as the work was getting done. He was quite a kidder himself and always love a good joke. My husband, Frank, went on a few golfing trips to Myrtle Beach and Florida with Gord and always had a great time out with him. I am sure he will be missed by many.

    Marg and family. So sorry to hear of Gords passing. Gord was always such a laughing, bubbly personality. Betty and I always enjoyed meeting Marg and Gord at dances or at Old Homestead at Bayfield. He always brought a smile to our faces.

Memorial Tree

Each year we hold a tree dedication ceremony at Morrison Dam in Exeter. We purchase a tree to be planted in memory of the lives lost from the previous year.

Our Service Coverage Area

Service AreaWe are always willing to go where called upon but this image shows a visual of the communities that our included in our initial transportation fee. We offer a 40km radius from any of our 5 locations (Arva (London), Exeter, Lucan, Seaforth, and Zurich). Any mileage beyond the included 40km will be charged a rate of $2.50/km (one way travel only).

Potential Additional Transportation Fees

$150 - If transport requires more than one person, additional fee charged per person required
$150 - If transport occurs outside Mon-Fri, 9-5 business hours
