MASTORAKOS: Collin Jeffrey of Lucan

May 5, 2024 By Haskett Funeral Homes 199 Condolences

MASTORAKOS: Collin Jeffrey of Lucan

In loving memory of Collin Jeffrey Mastorakos, who departed from our lives on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, as the result of a tragic accident, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and cherished memories. Born on July 11th, 1998, Collin was a much-loved son, brother, uncle, and friend whose presence brought light and joy to those around him. Collin’s journey touched the lives of many, leaving a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his loving mother, Peggy, his devoted father, Peter, his dear brother Dylan and sister-in-law Connor, along with his adored nephew Rhett and niece Eleni, who held a special place in his heart. Collin’s uncles and aunts Theo and Maria Mastorakos(Godparents) and Jeff and Kelly McFalls also mourn his passing, remembering him fondly. His cousins Melissa (Ben) and Laura will cherish their many wonderful memories. Greeting him with open arms are his predeceased grandparents Gary and Marlyne McFalls and Theodora and George Mastorakos.

Affectionately known as “Bear” among his family and friends, Collin embodied the warmth and strength of his nickname. With the best hugs and a heart as vast as his embrace, he possessed a remarkable ability to comfort anyone in need, offering solace and reassurance with his mere presence. Collin’s unwavering support brought light to the darkest of moments and warmth to the coldest of days, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Known for his gentle spirit and compassionate nature, Collin had a zest for life that manifested in his passions for animals, gaming, fishing, Eminem, photography, and travel. His loyal companion, Daisy, his beloved dog, was his steadfast partner in all his adventures, bringing him immense joy and companionship. Among his greatest joys were the times spent with Rhett and Eleni, whom he cherished dearly, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

Peggy, Collin’s adoring mother, was deeply connected to her sons from the moment they entered the world. Peggy adhered to a principle of togetherness, seldom leaving the boys with babysitters. Every vacation, every weekend, every moment was spent as a family unit. The rule was simple: the kids went everywhere with the family together. As Collin grew, his personality aligned closely with Peggy’s, sharing a similar sense of humor and a joy for life’s simpler pleasures. Peggy and Collin communicated daily, and even when Collin moved to Grand Bend, they remained inseparable, bringing comfort in the knowledge that she was a constant presence throughout his life. One cherished memory shared between Collin and Peggy was their trip to Hawaii. It was a journey Collin had longed to take, and Peggy, always eager to share in her son’s adventures, embraced the opportunity to create lasting memories together. Their time in Hawaii was filled with laughter, exploration, and moments of pure joy, strengthening the bond between mother and son. Though Collin’s time on this earth was tragically cut short, the memories of their Hawaiian adventure will remain a cherished treasure in Peggy’s heart forever.

Collin’s father was a constant source of unwavering support and encouragement, nurturing his son’s passions and dreams. Collin’s love for photography and exploration led him on unforgettable adventures to distant lands. From the rugged landscapes of Churchill, Manitoba, where he embarked on a polar bear trek, to the ancient ruins of Greece and the majestic wonders of the Great Wall and Terracotta Warriors of China, Collin embraced every opportunity to immerse himself in new cultures and experiences.

Among the many cherished moments in Collin’s life, some stood out as “best days ever.” His 2007 trip to Greece, where he reunited with family, held a special place in his heart. Additionally, sharing adventures with loved ones was paramount to Collin’s happiness. Whether it was exploring Hawaii with his devoted mother or cheering on his beloved Bruins in Boston with his father, these shared experiences were treasured highlights in Collin’s journey through life.

Dylan, Collin’s older brother, was not only a sibling but also a steadfast guardian and confidant. Always looking out for his younger brother, Dylan ensured that they remained close-knit, sharing experiences and supporting each other through life’s journey. In Collin’s eyes, Dylan was a true superhero, capable of anything – he often joked that Dylan could put wings on flies. Their bond extended beyond family ties; they were also business partners, working side by side in the construction industry, their collaboration a testament to their shared dedication and mutual respect. Despite their differing characteristics and interests, their love for each other ran deep, enriching their relationship and strengthening the bond between them.

Collin brought a subtle, understated charm to family gatherings, but it didn’t take long for him to immerse himself in the shared humor that filled the room. With Uncle Jeff, Auntie Kelly, and cousins Melissa and Laura, the McFalls family gatherings were always filled with laughter, often rooted in their shared wit and playful banter. Despite his quiet demeanor, Collin’s quick wit and ability to effortlessly engage in the camaraderie made him a beloved part of the family dynamic. Melissa and Laura, seeing him as their little brother, cherished every moment spent together. Uncle Jeff and Auntie Kelly always made time for Collin, their warmth and affection creating lasting memories that Collin held dear.

Collin held a special place in the hearts of his Uncle Theo and Auntie Ria, who showered him with love and affection, whether it was during their cherished sleepovers or what Collin fondly referred to as “going on vacation.” Their home became a sanctuary for Collin, where he discovered boundless joy and comfort, weaving precious memories that will endure eternally. As his Godparents, Theo and Maria not only spoiled Collin but also served as mentors, unwavering supporters, and occasional work partners. Collin relished the times when Uncle Theo joined him and his brother, even amidst the barrage of “bad dad jokes” that inevitably ensued. Theo and Maria embraced Collin as if he were their own, enriching his life with immeasurable love and guidance.

In his 26th year, Collin leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever be treasured by those who were fortunate enough to have him in their lives. Though he may be gone from our sight, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

In a final act of kindness, Collin donated his organs, providing the gift of life to 6 people and easing the pain of their families. His selfless generosity reflects the essence of who he was – a compassionate soul who made a difference in the lives of others.

In this time of mourning, let us celebrate the beautiful life of Collin and find solace in the memories we shared with him. May his kindness and warmth continue to inspire us as we carry his legacy forward.

Rest in peace, dear Collin. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.

All are welcome to a celebration of Collin’s life at the Lucan Biddulph Community Memorial Center, 263 Main Street on Tuesday from 4-7PM. A funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 189 Main Street, Lucan on Wednesday, May 8th at 11AM. Interment St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye.

Donations to the OSPCA or London Health Sciences Foundation in support of the Multi Organ Transplant Unit or Critical Care Trauma Center would be appreciated by the family.

There are no words to express how heartbroken and saddened to learn of Collins passing. I had the honour of being part of his early years at Nursery School when he would leave Mom and stay. Years later there was that big smile and wave every time I saw him next door cutting the grass. Collin’s spirit and light has touched so many people and he will forever remain in the hearts of all of those who knew and loved him.

We are so very sorry for your loss. Collin came to the visitation for our son, Samuel, in September and our conversation with him that night stood out because of the time he took to talk to us, to tell us his memories, and the authentic compassion and care he showed that night. It appears he showed those attributes in every aspect of his life – such a beautiful young man.

Our heart aches for you all . Sending lots of strength for the days ahead.
