Peacefully at LHSC- University Hospital on Monday February 15, 202, of St. Joseph, at the age of 61. Cherished and loving husband of Tracy LaPorte. Proud son of Tony LaPorte and his wife Cathy of St. Joseph. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Lindsay LaPorte and Harold Rule. Missed by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Predeceased by his mother Rachelle LaPorte.
Danny loved life and his family; he will be missed by all that knew him.
A private Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 20th at 2 PM. Though the service is private, the family invites you to join with them from the comfort of your own home. Stream the service live or at your convenience by visiting www.facebook.com/haskettfh.

I couldn’t even tell you how many times Dan brightened my day in the 5 years I have lived out here, how many cool stories he had to tell, or how many real good laughs he was responsible for, but I am thankful for every single one of them, and wish his family did not have to feel this loss.

Connie and I are very sorry to hear of Danny’s passing. Danny LaPorte was a big and colorful part of my youth. Being neighbours and the same age, we competed aggressively in school, sport and at work. He was strong in all areas. Win lose or draw, those experiences with Danny were some of my best memories growing up and I think of them often. I appreciated our friendship and regret that I no longer have the opportunity to reminisce about those good times with him.

I dated Dan when he lived in Vancouver and I also spent 3 months living in St Jospeh with Dan back in 1987. We did keep in touch over the years and he had come to BC to visit a couple of times. Funny thing, just before I heard that he had passed away, I had a feeling I should call him and see how he was doing.
It would have been around the day that he had passed away and I think it was his way of saying good bye. I never got a chance to talk to him again, but I know we were both thinking of each other. I hope you found peace Dan. Love to your family.
