Unexpectedly at LHSC – University Hospital on Monday, January 4, 2021 of Crediton at the age of 72. Cherished husband of Carolyn (Glanville) for over 52 years. Proud father of Angie and Scott Heywood, and Kim Lansbergen all of Lucan. Adored Poppa of Rachel Heywood and Travis Hutchison, and Ryan Heywood. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Mary Van Loon, Cora and Fred Palamaryk, Bill and Darlene Lansbergen, Adrien Lansbergen, Ted and Hilda Lansbergen, Christina and Doug Bingham, Elly and Ivan Dow, Tony and Jane Lansbergen, Theresa and Francis Ryan, Betty Lansbergen, Judy Smale and Dale Conlan, Debbie and Steve Reid, Shellie and Jeff Hockey, and Terry Glanville and Jill. Predeceased by his parents William and Chirstina (van Dijk) Lansbergen, brothers Henk and Neil, and sister Joanne.
Nick had a passion for old cars. He was a hard worker who loved fixing things and working with his hands. Above all was his dedication and love for his family.
A private family memorial service will be held on Friday, January 8th at 11 AM. Cremation with interment Exeter Cemetery. I worked with Nick for 23 years my dad Roy Best worked with him even longer. My dad was a production foreman at the bakery and we both agree Nick was a stand up guy very dependable. He worked a lot of overtime and was always there when my dad needed him.

We are so sorry to hear of Nick’s passing. I first met Nick when we bought our lot from the Martenes, and he introduced himself when work began on our house. We couldn’t have asked for a better neighbour. Over the years we have had many good chats about a wide range of topics – Nick loved to just visit and shoot the breeze. He was very proud of his two daughters, and subsequently his grand children, and often asked about our children. One story to illustrate what kind of man Nick was: when the tree by the road came down it straddled the fence between us – no damage at all, and no casualties other than one of Cheryl’s frogs in the garden. Son Don and I cut the tree down and chopped it up, and put it on the trailer pad up by the house. We had just finished clearing the brush when Nick and Carolyn got home – he asked what happened and apologized for the old tree, and the broken frog. Cheryl and I were away for about a week and came home to find all of the cut brush and wood had been hauled away to the dump, and a little white concrete frog was in the garden – a little frog we subsequently named Nick. He was kind, thoughtful man. I hope that happy memories, and the love of family and friends helps support you all during this difficult time.
