Passed away at St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital on Friday, December 31, 2021, of RR4 Denfield at the age of 85. Beloved husband of the late Patricia “Pat” Jones for over 63 years. Dear father of Ruth Jones and Ruth’s chosen sister Connie and her children Shawn, Eric, Colin, and Robbie. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and his girl Tinkerbell. Missed by many friends and neighbours. Predeceased by parents Alvin and Verna (Vollans) Jones, parents-in-law Burt and Rhea (Rochleau) Conn, brother Ivan Jones (Doris), and brother-in-law Tom Williams (Catherine).
Joe was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, fishing and farming. He raised and raced standard bred horses for over 40 years. Over the years Joe looked forward to many kitchen visits with family, friends and neighbours. He will be remembered as a great storyteller and someone who was always up for a good joke. Joe liked a spirited game of euchre and cribbage, but he really enjoyed Pat’s cooking, especially her pies and Christmas cake.
In keeping with Joe’s wishes cremation has taken place. A private invitation only celebration of Pat and Joe’s life will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, Lucan (519-227-4211) on Saturday July 9, 2022 at 1PM. Ruth and family. I was sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. Many years ago while I was working for the Township Road Department , we were working on the road in front of your family farm. We were invited in a few times for coffee, some of your Mom’s treats and heard some funny stories. Your Mom and Dad’s hospitality was never forgotten. My condolences to all.
We are sorry to hear of the loss of your parents, they were the best people to know. Salt of the earth. They were both full of love and light.
Dear Ruth: Mom and I were sorry to hear about your dad’s passing. Many years ago he delivered groceries to our home every week from McGuffin’s store. We frequently saw them at some of the community dinners. The Peckhams are friends of mine and I know they were friends of your mom and dad. Doug and Yvonne were very good to keep me up on what was going on in the Jones family. Our deepest sympathy to you and your family. Sincerely, Ivah and Marian Smibert.
Sad to hear about Arts passing.
I had seen him a couple of times in Belmont over the years but remember snowmobiling at the farm back in the 70’s.

Dear Ruth
Your dad was a great friend and a wonderful neighbour and our hearts are saddened by your loss. May Art’s memories, especially the horse racing and card game ones, be a blessing. Sincerely, Rich, Pooch, Jessica and Ali
So many great memories with your family over all the years that I have lived here. Always great friends with the values of hard work, good food, and deep honesty! Their ‘always open’ kitchen table was a place of countless cups of coffee, many many games of cards, much laughter, and a few tears…. Historical stories of local life, the lives and experiences of and with dear friends on Manitoulin Island, and all the current ‘gossip’ were traded. And the horses, dogs, and cats….!!! He, and Pat, will be missed. With sincere sympathy.
Dear Ruth, Sorry to hear of the loss of your dad reminds me of the years watching your dad working the fields and running the horses on the track he will be missed in the neighborhood best to you and the family take the time to reflect on the good times spent together
