Don worked as a licensed carpenter and in the maintenance department at Seaforth Hospital (HPHA). He also volunteered with the Seaforth Fire Department for 25 years, serving as Fire Chief for 5 of those years. Don worked hard and played hard. He enjoyed a good game of euchre (firehall rules), time spent at the cabin in Benmiller, fishing/boating with family and friends, and the occasional rye and Pepsi.
In keeping with Don’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral. Due to COVID-19 Don’s ashes will be taken to his final resting place at Maitlandbank Cemetery, Seaforth on August 17, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. Donations to Seaforth Community Hospital Foundation, Jessica’s House, Seaforth Firefighter’s Association or Seaforth Legion Branch 156 would be appreciated.
To my family and friends:
Remember me with smiles and laughter,
For that’s how I will remember you all.
If you must remember me with tears and sadness,
Then, please, don’t remember me at all.

Broken Chain
We did not know that morning
That God would call your name.
In life we loved you dearly
In death, we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you
You did not go alone,
for a part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
You left us lots of memories
Your love is still our guide,
and although we cannot see you
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us, one by one
the chain will link again
