HULLEY: Donald of Egmondville

March 2, 2020 By Haskett Funeral Homes 80 Condolences

HULLEY: Donald of Egmondville

Donald Wayne Hulley, age 72, of Egmondville, Ontario passed away peacefully at Jessica’s House in Exeter on March 2, 2020 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born in London, Ontario, (Dec 25, 1947), son of the late Eldon and Marian (Steiss) Hulley. Beloved husband of Marj (Reis) for 51 years (Dec 7, 1968). Proud and loving father of Brent (April) Hulley and Jason Hulley and Candis. Proud and loving granddad of Oakley. Donald is survived by his sisters and brothers: Nancy (Gerry) O’Reilly, Judy (Cam) McLeod, Penny (John) Lansink, Paul (Cathy) Hulley, David Hulley, Douglas Hulley, Susan (Tony) Arts, Sandra (Mark) Melady. Also survived by inlaws: Evelyn Hinz, Wendy Reis and Donald (Linda) Reis. Fondly remembered by his aunts Audrey Hackwell and Betty Hulley. Missed by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Predeceased by brothers-in-law Wesley Hinz and Douglas Reis, nephew Trevor Reis and niece Sandra (McInally) Melady.

Don worked as a licensed carpenter and in the maintenance department at Seaforth Hospital (HPHA). He also volunteered with the Seaforth Fire Department for 25 years, serving as Fire Chief for 5 of those years. Don worked hard and played hard. He enjoyed a good game of euchre (firehall rules), time spent at the cabin in Benmiller, fishing/boating with family and friends, and the occasional rye and Pepsi.

In keeping with Don’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral. Due to COVID-19 Don’s ashes will be taken to his final resting place at Maitlandbank Cemetery, Seaforth on August 17, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. Donations to Seaforth Community Hospital Foundation, Jessica’s House, Seaforth Firefighter’s Association or Seaforth Legion Branch 156 would be appreciated.

To my family and friends:

Remember me with smiles and laughter,

For that’s how I will remember you all.

If you must remember me with tears and sadness,

Then, please, don’t remember me at all.

Don

    Broken Chain
We did not know that morning
That God would call your name.
In life we loved you dearly
In death, we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you
    You did not go alone,
for a part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

You left us lots of memories
Your love is still our guide,
and although we cannot see you
You are always at our side.

    Our family chain is broken,
    and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us, one by one
    the chain will link again
