Howard & Eileen were both a great inspiration to me, both during my Bible College days in Ailsa Craig, and also as ongoing friends after that. I dearly miss both of them.
I was always impressed by Howard’s stamina and zest for life, and his work ethic.
I look forward to metting Howard & Eileen again on the Streets of Glory one day

I was using the search engine to locate long lost freinds and when I googled Rudy, this came up. I am so deeply fond of the freinds and family who have posted here in memory of Dad.

I would love to go on about Dad, ad infinitum, but I am at page 140 in writting about this wonderful man and there is no end in sight.

He was the most fascinating of men and the finest Father anyone could ever hope to have.

Strange thing about Dad’s stories; when researched, one fiinds they are, indeed, true.

I am so happy that Dad is now with Mom, his soul mate. They are resting in the sweetest of peace.

    P.S.
I forgot to mention that when I started pastoring at Lucan, I was very young and very homesick and somewhat depressed at my beginnings there. But when I was at the lowest point, Howard and Eileen and their family invited me to go with them to visit Niagara Falls. That simple act of kindness as well as others from them and others sustained me and left me with my greatest memories of any Church I pastored. Thanks to the whole Currie family as well as others. Best,John Sexton (johnedwardsexton@rocketmail.com)

    Bruce,Brian and Linda,
I am very sorry to learn of the loss of your Father. As you know when I pastored the Lucan Church in the 1960’s, your family was so very much a part of my life too. Your parents were always good to me and I have wonderful memories of all of you. I have missed all of you over the last 45 or so years. Since I have lost my parents, too I know the sense of loss is very hard. My Prayers and
thoughts are with you all. As someone has so pointed out that
Memory is the one gift of God that death cannot destroy. Yours in Christ, Rev John Sexton -North Carolina

Bruce,Brian&Linda and family; Just heard of the lost of your father and am deeply sorry. It seems just like yesterday that I was one of the lucky ones to experience the love and hospitality of your parents in the early 70’s. The stories your father told and the kindness of your mother will always be fond memories.

Dear Bruce and the rest of the family

Please accept my condolences on the loss of your father. From the above comments he lived a full, happy, wonderful life. He used to tell you to keep away from the hippie around the corner, and I’m sure he was relieved when I left town 40 years ago. It was good to reaquaint in Vancouver a few years later. Hope you all are well, I wish you all the best.

I remember Howard taking a bunch of us kids each week to go skating in Huron Park. Another great memory I have was his many stories each time he visited our clinic. I am glad to have known such a great man.

Bruce, Brian and Linda: Very sorry to hear about your loss. I have very good memories of growing up in Lucan in the 1960’s. I recall the many times I spent visiting my good friend Bruce in those days. Howard and Eileen always treated me so kind. I remember the shed that Howard built for us at the back of the property. We had many good times in there. Certainly I remember the dogs that they raised. I too have lost my parents and I understand the loss you feel. I just wanted you to know that I am thinking of you at this difficult time.

I have many fond memories visiting Aunt Eileen, Uncle Howard and the dogs. The great cooking and preserves with Eileen and Howard’s great stories and smile.

There was always expressed genuine pleasure in visiting with you and their generosity is often thought of. You are both missed.

He was the strongest and sweetest man I’ll ever know. He’s taught me soo much words can’t express it. I only wish to have half the life he had. I know he’s in a better place right now, he’s with the love of his life- my Grandma. I’m going to miss talking to him and hearing him joke around. He always kept his humour no matter what was going on. I love you so much Grandpa, I’ll make you proud I promise and make something of myself.
I’ll see you one day. I Love you. Rest in the Sweetest Peace.

I was almost one year old when Howard & Eileen were married. My whole life has been blessed with lots of visits, trips to dog shows and other places.

Howard was a dedicated and skillful Animal Control Officer and also had a gift for removing other unwanted animals that wandered into people’s yards, barns and attic’s! And yes, his stories were creative.

I remember dropping in often to visit Howard and Eileen in Lucan. That was a great place on Duchess Street. Howard always kept visitors entertained with his slightly exaggerated stories. Good thing Eileen kept him in line. They made a great couple. I miss them both.

    Dear Family,

We originally met Howard in the late seventies through his duties as dog catcher, a job he took very seriously and did well. Howard was a realist with a great sense of humor and never ending, entertaining stories. We always enjoyed a chat with Howard if we happened to cross paths. I am sure his passion for life and his gregarious nature will be missed by all who knew him.
