HINES: Alan of Arva
Posted By Haskett Funeral Homes On January 24, 2024 @ 11:37 AM In Lucan,Obituary | 53 Comments
Suddenly but peacefully at home, Alan Hines passed away at the age of 78 on January 19, 2024. He will be forever missed by his wife of 55 years, Nancy Hines (Pink), and his children, Cynthia Hines-Pym (Steven), Glenn Hines (Sarah) and Kenn Hines (Tammy). Grandad will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Ally and Evan Pym, Lauren and Charlotte Hines, Colton and Ella Hines. Alan is the son of Alfred Hines and Alice Hines (Cooper) both deceased. Alan is survived by his sister, Marjorie Walters (Roger) and was predeceased by his siblings Eric Hines, Brenda Forbes, Keith Hines and Graham Hines. Alan will be missed by his extended family of many nieces and nephews and his best friends of many years Bill and Jackie Mallett.
Alan started his career as a bricklayer/stonemason, then transitioned into the construction industry and eventually became the leader of three successful family manufacturing businesses: Design Concrete Systems Limited, Redline Inc. and Promat Limited. His love of exploring differing ways of changing how things work resulted in several patented inventions. Even though work and designing were Alan’s passion, in his retirement years his love and enthusiasm for his grandchildren were evident as he proudly followed their academic, music, sports and dance endeavours. Alan/Dad/Grandad will be greatly missed but we can all hold in our hearts the many life lessons he was always eager to impart. We are on our own now Dad, and will make sure we always get to where we are going on time. We love you. Rest easy. We’ve got it from here.
A casual celebration of Alan’s life will be held at the Ivey Spencer Leadership Centre (Garden Room), 551 Windermere Road, London on Sunday, February 4th from 1-4 PM. Haskett Funeral Home, LUCAN entrusted with arrangements.
Donations to SARI Therapeutic Riding, George Bray Sports Association, or Ronald McDonald House Charities Southwestern Ontario would be appreciated by the family.

Nancy and family, Irene and I are so saddened by Alan’s passing. At one point my two brothers and I all worked for him. He taught me so much about bricklaying and construction. He was more like a big brother to me. He was the best bricklayer I have ever known . As with his brother’s passing I feel like I lost a brother.

Dear Nancy and family. I was so sad to learn of the passing of Alan. Although it’s been many years since I’ve seen him, I have fond memories of our days together at Riverview Public school. We are having our final reunion this May and was really hoping that Alan would be able to attend. We have several pictures of him from his time in sports. I am so sorry for your loss, it sounds like he went on to have a full life and I’m sure he’s left you wonderful legacy.
