Peacefully, with family by his side, at the South Huron Hospital, Exeter on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 of Exeter in his 75th year. Loving husband of Joan (Campbell) Heywood for 53 years. Dear father of Jason and Fae Heywood of Grand Bend, and Jayann Heywood and partner Bill of London. Proud pappa and pops of Anna, Paige, Hunter; and Jayven. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Ron and Betty Lou Heywood, Donna Regier, and Gary and Louise Heywood all of Exeter, Shirley and Ken Simpson of Lucan, Doug and Joanne Heywood of Hamilton, Bob and Martha Heywood and Dan Heywood and Belinda Sauder all of Exeter, Murray and Dena Heywood of Oshawa, Kate Bierling of Exeter, and Jim Redmond of London. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Laverne (2006) and Beatrice (Gerber) (2012) Heywood, sister Judy Gregoire (2005), brothers-in-law Murray Bell (1979) and Lloyd Regier (2000) and sister-in-law Lorraine Heywood (2007), brothers-in-law Dennis Bierling (2016) and Doc Campbell (2016), and sister-in-law Helen Redmond (2021).
Visitation will be held at the Haskett Funeral Home, 456 Main Street South, Exeter on Monday, May 6th from 4-8 PM. The memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 7th at 11 AM. I knew Don Heywood for over sixty years. He had many fine qualities, but the one I appreciated the most was that he was a quiet person. I am also a quiet person so I was always happy to be in his company (even if we didn’t talk much).
