Unexpectedly after a brief illness at South Huron Hospital with family by his side on Friday, October 19, 2018 of Exeter at the age of 55. Cherished husband of Deborah (Hodgson) Hayter for 20 years. Loving and devoted father of Megan (Sean), Evan, and Ally (Alex). Dear son of Louise (Holmes) Hayter and the late Ken (2014). Dear son-in-law of Wes and Christine Hodgson. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Linda and Larry Luther, Faye and Howard Schenk, Russell and Shelly Hayter, Dwayne Hayter and Joy Tyler, Kelly and John Rooney, Angela and Joe Ansems, Jennifer and Chris Mayhew, and Jason Hodgson. Mike will be truly missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and his furry companion Minnie. Mike will forever hold a spot on the Dressing Room 4 hockey team. A big thank you to Mike’s special care team at South Huron Hospital for their care and compassion.
In support of Mike’s dedication and passion towards hockey, friends are invited to wear their favourite hockey jersey and join for a celebration of Mike’s life at the South Huron Recreation Centre, 94 Victoria Street, East on Saturday, October 27th from 2-6 PM. A private family memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 24th. Cremation with inurnment, Exeter Cemetery. Haskett Funeral Home, Exeter entrusted with arrangements (519-235-1220).
In lieu of flowers, donations to Exeter Hawks Jr. C Hockey Club, South Huron Minor Hockey Association, South Huron Hospital Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
We are always willing to go where called upon but this image shows a visual of the communities that our included in our initial transportation fee. We offer a 40km radius from any of our 5 locations (Arva (London), Exeter, Lucan, Seaforth, and Zurich). Any mileage beyond the included 40km will be charged a rate of $2.50/km (one way travel only).

I was so saddened to hear of Mike’s passing. Every Friday night he would be in attendance at the Hawk’s game and we would chat and joke . he was always upbeat and friendly and enjoyed the game and all the fans and friends that were there. The Hawks are built on not just players but their families as well and the families of all the players will be at a loss. Mike was a great Hawks fan who will be dearly missed.
