Sorry to hear the loss of Bob. We the Medd family shared a lot of great memories with Bob including the cottage life, golfing, special Olympics on labour day at the Guest cottage. Camping in the north with the bears. Also, memories of the elections as to who is going to take power!!

Bob Harvey was a great principal and a true gentleman. Bob cared deeply about the well being of each and every student and teacher. I remember Bob walking, as a friend, with students at recess. Bob cared about each student’s academic well being, Bob cared sincerely for the professional and personal well being of everyone on his staff. Bob was a great friend and mentor. All at Rick Hansen grew with Bob’s nurturing.

Please accept my condolences for Bob. He was the best principal that I ever worked for. He was a kind and wonderful person always pitching for the underdog whether it be adults or children. His mentorship allowed me to stay in the teaching profession for 36 years. I always enjoyed catching up at the Rick Hansen staff Christmas parties to laugh about the old times. He will be missed but remembered always.

I had the pleasure of working with Bob when he was principal of Rick Hansen School. Bob cared about each and every student and he championed the rights of children with special needs. He was such a gentleman and so welcoming. We were able to reconnect years later as we sat on the Special Education Advisory Committee of TVDSB together. His input was invaluable and we enjoyed reminiscing about our stories and experiences. My condolences to his family. Your dad/grandpa/great grandpa was truly a special individual and his impact here will continue.

I was so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. Please know my thoughts are with all of you.

Dad, Gordon Schaus, had great fondness and respect for Bob. They were a great partnership as they opened Pearson, and Dad was so pleased when Bob went on his own successful principalships.

The stories of the Ilderton staff parties were legendary – and reflected the fun, close bonds, and collegiality that Bob helped build with his fellow staff members. Work had purpose but was fun and important.

I know you will have many memories to treasure in the years to come.

My condolences to the family. Your father or grandfather was a well respected man who lead by example. He was an excellent leader who encouraged those who worked for him to do their best, to enjoy what they accomplished and to always listen to other opinions before you make a decision. He valued his staff and his students. He was a team player and encouraged others to work together. The staff at Rick Hansen still keep in touch and have formed lasting friendships which we thank Bob for because he brought us together. He always made a point to thank us for doing something special whether big or small to make us feel appreciated and valued. We want to thank you for sharing Bob with us. We were very lucky to call him our leader and our friend. He will truly be missed by all.

Bob was such a kind and respected principal. It was a pleasure to work with him.

Staff at the ABCA were very sad to hear of Bob’s passing. He sat on our Board of Directors for many years, and his contributions were very much appreciated. I had the privilege of working with him on the Arkona Lions Museum Management Committee, and very much enjoyed those times. Our sincere condolences to the family at this time.

My sincere condolences to you at this sad time. Bob was an outstanding board member at the Ausable Bayfield CA . He was always supportive and approached issues thoughtfully and wisely, keeping in mind the importance of protecting the watersheds for current and future generations. Bob will be missed by many but our communities are much better places to live because of his dedication.

Dear Harvey Family,

We have so many wonderful memories of the fun times we had together with your mom and dad. It is hard to believe I was only 22 years old when I met your parents. They were the same age as my parents, yet not one bit alike. We never seemed to think about our age gap, rather Carl and I respected their years of life experiences and wisdom. We will be forever grateful for the positive role models your parents were to us in our younger years when we were newly married and raising young children.

We have so many cherished memories of our times together, but a few of the more memorable times that come to mind are Carl’s 40th surprise birthday trip to Vegas and crashing a wedding while we were there; our notorious Marriage Encounter weekend where we broke every rule; and our annual cottage themed weekends that usually included crazy antics and way too much drinking..

More recently, I will miss my visits at Fox Hollow with your dad and hearing all the updates about the Harvey clan. His family was his pride and joy, and he always delighted in sharing the latest news.

We will miss him greatly and always hold him dearly in our hearts.

Bob volunteered with Epilepsy Southwestern Ontario as our education expert where he helped us to advocate for so many students with epilepsy. He was always empathetic and generous with his time. He was a skilled board member who demonstrated a commitment to community. My family will miss talking to him about hockey!
