HARVEY: Neil of Ilderton
Posted By Haskett Funeral Homes On December 22, 2021 @ 6:16 PM In Lucan,Obituary | 142 Comments
With broken hearts, the family shares Neil’s tragic passing on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 of Ilderton at the age of 39. Proudest dad in the entire world of his son Hunter Harvey. Cherished son of Janice (Leatham) and Stephen Harvey. Beloved grandson of Eleanor and the late Bob (2014) Leatham, and Bob and the late Stephanie (2020) Harvey. Much loved brother of Beth and Nick Cake, and Sean and Natalie Harvey. Fun uncle “Nene” of Aubrey, Theo, and Bennett Cake and Lincoln, and Cameron Harvey. Lovingly remembered by his girlfriend Lindsey Adams. Cherished by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Adored by his 4 legged son Nash, Neil’s PTSD service dog.
Neil’s big, infectious smile was known to all whom he crossed paths with. As a proud paramedic in Lambton County, past training officer for Ilderton Fire Services, and an instructor in the paramedic program at Lambton College, Neil could always be found dedicating his time, energy, and knowledge to help his peers, students, and co-workers learn and grow to be the best they could be. But above all he loved to be spending time with his family, friends and most importantly, his son.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street LUCAN on Monday, December 27th from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM. Due to Provincial COVID-19 restrictions, each person must RSVP for the visitation, please click “Register Now” below, to register.
Neil’s funeral service will be held at the Ilderton Community Centre, 13168 Ilderton Road, Ilderton on Tuesday, December 28th at 11 AM with Rev. Keith Flemming officiating. Cremation to follow with interment at St. George’s Anglican Cemetery. Due to Provincial COVID-19 restrictions, each person must RSVP for the funeral service, please click “Register Now” below, to register. It is also asked that due to Provincial COVID-19 proof of vaccination restrictions, each person must show proof that they are fully vaccinated to attend the funeral service. As we read through the condolences posted, we noticed a strong consensus about Neil expressed by many, whether they knew him well, or were just briefly acquainted – “caring, compassionate, infectious smile, contagious laugh, dedicated, generous soul, firecracker, supportive, brightened any room.” are just a few that stood out. What a very special guy he was, and as time goes on these many qualities of his will pop up in your memories and hopefully calm the extreme sadness you are feeling now. In the meantime, please take comfort from the many, many blessings and condolences being sent to all of you. We are unable to attend the visitation or service but please know that we hold you all tightly in our hearts and send gentle hugs and caring thoughts your way. Ann and Andy McGregor
My deepest condolences to the Harvey family.
I used to work with Neil at Voyageur. Coming into work and seeing “Harvey” on the schedule, you knew it was going to be a great shift. He’d always beep in and say “I’ve got a story for you when we get back to base”, and they were always good ones!
He was a genuinely good person, who was so easy to get along with, and had an amazing sense of humour.
Love you Harv.
The Harvey Family

To the Robert E Leatham family:
It goes without saying but I hope that hearing it will give you some sense of solace.
You have an army behind you including a big, beautiful green Leatham army eager to lend support to Bob and Eleanor Leatham’s family et al. We weep with and for you. We feel your pain and bear some of it with you. This is a tragedy of epic proportion’s and we cannot fathom your loss.
For Eleanor, she sees the pain in her children as well as the loss of a grandchild. For Janice and Stephen , Neil’s loss can be nothing less than devastating. As well, the depth of grief to his siblings Sean and Beth is so very sad. Melanie and Paul mourn for themselves as well as their Sister and her family. We extend wholehearted sympathies to the following generation as well. We fully recognize the grief of the whole Harvey family and the loss for Hunter. We want them to know our acknowledgement and empathy for their pain across our cousin Stephen’s family!
So many losses for so many people on so many levels. Neil’s memories will live on in each of us! Your minds eye seeing his smile. Your minds ear hearing his voice and laughter.
This death cannot be meaningless! We have created a legacy of Neil for our family representing what he meant to us. Carrying him with us in our soul, hearts and minds!
I hope that you will be able to draw strength from the family connection that has always been so strong among the Leatham Clan. You realize, I am certain, that we all hold you in our hearts with unwavering support and caring and concern during this very difficult time. When one of us hurts we all hurt! For myself, know I am here for you in anyway that I can be of support.
With deepest Love

My deepest sympathies to Steve, Bob and the entire Harvey Family.
Charlotte McDonald
To all the Harvey family, our sincere condolences on Neil’s passing. We have so many fond memories form our time on King Street. Hockey games, baseball and skating on the pond together. Amazing young man we will miss.
