HART: Jerry of Vanastra

May 19, 1965-November 19, 2024

Exactly 6 months before Jerry would have been 60, he took his last breath with his family by his side. He had gained an additional 17 years with his family and friends after a double lung transplant, followed by a liver and kidney transplant 9 years later.  Although 59 ½ years will never be long enough, he enjoyed the life he shared with his wife Barb of 33 years, and his children Sarah (Cory), Jessica (Josh), Jeremy (Shelby), and Brittany (Grant).  He was also a very proud papa to Savannah, Dominic, Makayla, Sean, Cooper, Matthew, Jace, Parker, James, Bèla, and Isaiah. Jerry will also be missed by his siblings Joan (Roland), Dave (Susan), Cathy (Dan), Bev (Seif) and brothers-in-law John, Bob (Carla), and Jason (Margie), as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and the many friends he made along the way. He will also be greatly missed by his good friends Rick Finch and Peter Zembashi. He is predeceased by his parents James (1986) and Lois (2004), sister Donna (1998), nephew Jason (2024), father-in-law Bill (2013), and mother-in-law Judy (2024).

To honour his wishes his body was donated for research (as he was truly a puzzle), and cremation has taken place. There will be no services at this time, but there will be a celebration for what would have been his 60th birthday. Details to be posted at a later time.

We would love to thank the nurses, doctors, and support staff at Toronto General Hospital for all of their compassionate help during such a difficult time.

Donations to Centre for Living Organ Donation Fund for Excellence through the UHN Foundation or the UHN Foundation (Toronto General Hospital) would be appreciated by the family.

Always remember the love, laughter and sarcasm that Jerry brought to you all, as we navigate this difficult time together.
