With deep sorrow, yet with great gratitude for her amazing life, we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Leona Glavin. Peacefully at South Huron Hospital, Exeter, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, September 11, 2014 in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late John G. Glavin (September 12, 1978) and loving Mother of Tom and Jane, Mike and Betty, Jim and Nathalie, Gerry and June, Larry and Joanne, Mary-Angela and Pete Rutten, Theresa and Bob Parsons, Jack and Deb, Joe and Patricia, Eugene and Millie, Maureen and Morley Thompson, Dave, Dennis, Anne and Pete Roelands and Donna and Dan Masfrank. Predeceased by her son Edward Glavin (2004), her daughter-in-law Judy Glavin (1997), and her infant granddaughter Trisha Marie (1975). Proud Grandma of 48 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren. Dear sister-in-law of Ray and Camilla Trudell and Marie Gelinas. Predeceased by Clem and Joan McCann, Evelyn and Hubert McKeever, Joe and Sis McCann, Alice and Don Hartman and Eileen and Arthur Gelinas. Mom was the last surviving member of the Ben and Emma (Hoffman) McCann family. Predeceased by members of the Glavin family; Rita and Joe Carey, Tom Glavin, Lorraine and Wilfred Helm, and Mary and Ben Dietrich.
Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, Lucan on Sunday from 2-4:30 and 7-9 PM and again on Monday from 2-4:30 and 7-9 PM . The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 69219 Bronson Line, South Huron (Mount Carmel) on Tuesday, September 16 at 11 AM with Father Len Desjardins presiding. Interment Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery. Private family parish prayers will be said in the funeral home on Saturday afternoon.
In Lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted to the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Restoration Fund, the Precious Blood Building Fund or the South Huron Hospital.

Patrick & I attended the lovely requiem Mass for your dear mother. We just happened to see the cortege leaving Hasketts in Lucan and joined in….what a lovely experience….sometimes the cars were above us on the horizon and it was quite remarkable to see all the cars highlighted on this…..we had never seen anything quite like it. The trip into your Mom’s home of 72 years (if my memory serves me correctly from the Priest’s homily at Mom’s Mass) was very, very moving. We would have liked to stay and meet up with those of you who knew us, but we were working in the store and had to get back.
Please be assured of our prayers for Mom, Dad and you all and your families. (The angels are going to be busy in heaven when they have to handle all the prayers that will be getting offered for you all.
