In the time I knew Gordon he was a wonderful man. He always was a happy man and could always make you laugh. My mother was a better person with him and he was a big help to her.
I just found out about his passing and it saddens me.
We have lost a great man.

Anita, Margaret, George and the whole family

We just learned of your Dad (Grandfather) passing.
I always enjoyed Margaret’s stories about her grandfather. It sounded like he had a wonderful sense of humour. My Dad always spoke fondly of Gordon also.

You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Gordon was a very proud veteran. We had many good talks and also prayer times when I visited him at Parkwood when I was a Chaplain there. He seemed so alert and had quite a sense of humour. I remember one day asking him why he was a resident at Parkwood
Hospital. He looked at me and said “Because I’m sick.!!!”
He enjoyed any news from Lucan and also St. Pat’s. He would ask about the Crunicans and would appreciate it each fall harvest season when they would send Gord in apples from their new crop. I am sorry not to be able to join you at visitation since I am attending a Chaplain’s conference in Winnipeg this coming week. May God bless each of you as you mourn, grieve and celebrate his memory and love!

I remember meeting Great Uncle Gordon and how comical he was even then as he cracked a joke! A life well lived. Though we can never fully be prepared for death – we can rest assured of his life after death. May peace be yours throughout this difficult time.

Naomi (O’Neill) Ratelband – grandmother was Gordon’s sister Alma, my father is her 2nd youngest, Art O’Neill
