GEOFFREY: Randall Steven “Randy” of Zurich

May 4, 2024 By Haskett Funeral Homes 305 Condolences

GEOFFREY: Randall Steven “Randy” of Zurich

December 19, 1956 – May 2, 2024

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Randy Geoffrey on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the age of 67. The world has lost a kind and generous soul. He has forever left a huge void in our hearts. Randy’s most significant accomplishment and source of pride is his beautiful family. His wife Vicki was his rock and the love of his life. Much loved and devoted father of Pam Geoffrey and partner Jeran of Kirkton, Jason and Alyshia Geoffrey of Zurich, and Jeremy and Sarah Geoffrey of Exeter. Adored and forever loved Pipi who never missed any opportunity to express his love and pride for his grandchildren; Seraphine, and Scott Siddall; Makayla, and Isabella Geoffrey; Payton and Harper Geoffrey. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Darlene Finkbeiner, Colleen and Dan Wilson, Doug Geoffrey and Christine Cramer and Steve and Patti Geoffrey, Steven and Deb Overholt, Debbie Regier and Ron Cybulski, Paul and Colleen Overholt, Cathi Clausius, Peter and Stephanie Overholt, and Mark Regier. Favourite and fun loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Ted and Jean (Rau) Geoffrey, his in-laws Willie and Martha (Denomme) Overholt, his brother-in-law Doug Finkbeiner and nephew Jeff Finkbeiner.

Randy was a true homebody and loved being around his home that he built, where he was surrounded by friends and neighbors that he loved. Randy took great pride in a good day’s work and throughout his long career employed with Doug Geoffrey Construction. Just like anything Randy built or constructed he made many friendships that will last a lifetime. Randy was a devoted and dedicated volunteer firefighter proudly serving his community. He was highly respected by his peers for his outstanding service. His commitment and bravery to his community and to his trusted firefighters will not be forgotten. Randy lived a life defined by generosity, unwavering wit and a desire to leave the world a better place, one cannot help but think of the words of Albert Schweitzer “the purpose of human life is to serve and show compassion and the will to help others. The family ask that he be remembered for the joy he brought to others in life and not the sadness of his passing.

Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 456 Main Street South, EXETER on Wednesday, May 8th from 4 – 7 PM.

Randy’s funeral service will be held at the Zurich Community Centre, 15 East Street, ZURICH on Thursday, May 9th at 11 AM.

A recording of Randy’s service will be available on Friday through www.facebook.com/haskettfh

In lieu of flowers, donations to Victim Services Huron Perth would be appreciated by the family.

Vicki & family, thank you so much for sharing Randy’s Celebration of Life via Facebook.

We were unable to be there in person and it was wonderful to be able to virtually attend, hearing the heartfelt and moving tributes to a remarkable individual.

Vicki and family, The Overholts and The Geoffreys
I have never read so many condolences offered up for 1 person … your person “Randy”.
They all have one theme in common – the love, gentleness, caring, compassion of a human being given freely in a fun-loving way. The road ahead for all of you will be difficult – when you feel the loneliness, turn to all of the sentiments left in honor of Randy. Hug those words tight, revel in the memories he left with you. He is still with all of you – you just can’t see him. I am overwhelmed at how many lives Randy touched.

Dear Vicki, Jason, Pam & the Geoffrey Family,

I’m so incredibly sorry for your loss. Randy was such a kind and gentle man, loved by everyone in the community.

One of my favourite memories of him growing up on Quimby Drive was during one of the many afternoons when the neighbourhood was flooded with a group of 30 or so kids playing kick the can. On that particular day, I was hiding in the flowerbed on the north side of Randy and Vicki’s house. Randy came out to do some yard work and was definitely surprised when my head popped out between two shrubs. A big smile came across his face, and he continued on past me, didn’t blow my cover at all. That’s the kind of man he was… just happy to see all the kids playing and having fun… no worries about being in the flowerbed or hiding in his shrubs. How lucky we all were to grow up in a neighbourhood like that with neighbours like Randy.

He will be greatly missed by so many… you are all in my thoughts.

    Valerie

    When you are most alone
The memory of love will bring you home”
    (Placido Domingo)

Your incredible love and memories will help see you through. Randy is so loved and will be cherished forever. God Bless each of you!

I was saddened to hear the news about Randy’s passing. A true friend of Ron’s and a trusted and skilled craftsman – our home bears so many special features as a result of Ron’s morning chats with him during our renovations ……….. and, of course, there were always shenanigans that the Geoffrey’s and crew are so well know for – always with that chuckle and smile. These Zurich boys!

His obituary is a wonderful tribute to a much loved man. I am so sorry for your loss.

Our deepest sympathies to you Vicki and the whole family. Randy was the person that showed me what a good friend and hard worker was all about. One of the jobs together I remember most with him was on chicken island with Bernie that had many trips home filled with tears of laughter. It never felt like work when I worked with Randy because he made it so much fun no matter how hard the job was. I am so honoured to have known such a great person. There are so many people that leave a long lasting impression on you and Randy was that person. May you Randy shine down on the rest of your family with peace that you are with all the other great people in heaven.

It is never just ‘one’ person who passes away. In that one special person is a husband, brother, father, uncle, cousin, friend, co-worker: the same person, but many people and to so many people. Randy’s passing is a huge loss because he meant so much to so many. The first time I met him I was SO impressed: he was tall, dark handsome, for sure a perfect partner for my beautiful cousin Vicki. But he was also nice, and funny and kind and by all accounts an amazing father, grandfather and uncle. Many hearts are breaking right now but also filled with love and gratitude for knowing such a great soul.

With love and hugs to all of Randy’s nearest and dearest xxoo

    Vicki, Pam & Jaren, Jason & Alyshia, Jeremy & Sarah & families; and all the Geoffrey & Overholt families;

Our most heartfelt sympathy in your huge loss of Randy. “What a nice guy!” is the first thing that I think of when I think of Randy Geoffrey. I’ve known Randy for over 45 years and he’s always been such a kind fellow. When we’d meet at the Zurich or Exeter building centres over the years, although he wasted no time getting his business done, he always took the time to have a chat with this Zurich boy, while waiting to be served. He was always willing to share some helpful hints from his vast knowledge of home building. Randy never missed waving anytime we’d meet and pass by in vehicles, which happened on a very regular basis. What an awesome example of a hard working, caring and serving human being he was to his family, community and to all of us.
We are keeping you all close in our thoughts and prayers at this extremely difficult time. R.I.P. Randy.

Where do I begin Vicki., words cannot express the sadness that I feel at the loss of this kind soul.. Bernie always treasured the days he spent with him at work, he always said that it was a joy, not a job, He looked forward to each time that he would be with him, he always looked out for his well being, and made a joke of every passing day. Bernie and I always had a special place in our heart for this loving human being. I’m so very sorry for your loss and to your whole family,
Hold all those memories close to your heart, and they will make grieving a bit easier. Cherish all the good times, keep his memory alive. Love you all, knowing I hold you all close in prayer🙏🙏🙏
