FRYER: Julie Elizabeth of Exeter

May 13, 2021 By Haskett Funeral Homes 28 Condolences

FRYER: Julie Elizabeth of Exeter

Julie passed away at the Stratford Memorial Hospital, after a brief but hard fought battle with COVID-19. Julie was welcomed home into the arms of her mother Elizabeth Beattie (predeceased) and will be deeply missed by her father Donald Beattie who she leaves behind. She is profoundly missed by her husband Brian Fryer who was blessed to call her his sweetheart for 33 years. Dedicated and supportive mother to Joshua Fryer, and Amanda Fryer. Julie will be tremendously missed by her siblings Gordon, Donna, and Margaret. She was an affectionate and fun-loving Nanny to her four grandchildren Dawson, Haylee, Lilia, and Kaleb who she adored to the moon and back. Julie will also be missed by her sidekick Bev, her special friends, cousins, and extended family.

Julie will be remembered most for her boisterously contagious laugh, her mischievous sense of humor, her loving/caring heart, and for her endless gifts of selfless acts of love to those that she took under her wing.

The family would like to thank many friends and neighbours for taking the time to share words of encouragement and support with Julie in her final hours. Julie was able to leave this earth knowing how much she was loved.

At Julie’s request, cremation has taken place. Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private gathering and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Haskett Funeral Homes, Exeter (519-235-1220).

Donations to Diabetes Canada would be appreciated by the family.

Just heard the shocking news that Julie had passed away last May. Please accept our family’s deepest condolences. We have so many memories of Don and Elizabeth and their children growing up. One of our fondest memories is when David was Julie’s ring bearer at her wedding. A year has passed since Julie’s passing but I am sure you are all still grieving. Remember all the good times you shared with her; it makes it more bearable. Blessings to all of you.

Amanda, Josh, Brian, Family & Beloved Friends…

I have spent the last week trying to think of what to write on this message board. I haven’t been able to find the words. This loss is so sudden and devastating. My heart aches for you.

I have only words of scripture with the hopes that it will bring you some peace. In the Catholic church, we have daily readings for daily mass. I know Julie was not Catholic, but I also came to know her as a spiritual person. I shared the readings from the Gospel of John for her memorial. Those were the readings from her last few days on this earth. The following is the daily reading for the day you laid her to rest…

A reading from the gospel of John, Chapter 21, verses 15-19

After Jesus had revealed himself to his disciples and eaten breakfast with them, he said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” Simon Peter answered him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my lambs.”

He then said to Simon Peter a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Simon Peter answered him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”
He said to him, “Tend my sheep.”

He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, “Do you love ME?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.

Amen, amen, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to dress yourself and go where you wanted; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.”

He said this signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. And when he had said this, he said to him, “Follow me…”

Julie lived her life loving, serving and caring for others. Care for each other the way that she cared for each of you. She taught each of you how to be the glue that held everyone together. Carry on her legacy, take care of each other and teach the world to be kind. Julie saw me at my best, and at my worst on my bad days. On my bad days, when I would apologize for my house being a disaster—or for looking like a disaster, she would simply say “We all have bad days…those days just make the good days better.”

I know that each of you will have bad days, recovering from this loss will be unimaginably difficult. Just remember to love and support each other the way that Julie did for you. I know you have big shoes to fill, but I think together—you can do it. If all else fails, be still and know that you are loved. God is “investing” in each of you right now. Know that HE loves you unconditionally, the way that Julie did…even though it might be hard to see that right now. In time, this journey of grief and suffering will teach you to embrace the sunshine, and to rest on rainy days—because nothing can grow without rain and even warriors need to rest. Give yourself the grace to embrace joy and to rest when you need to.

    To Amanda:
You are raising beautiful, wonderful children. I like to think that your mother taught you how. You are stronger than you know, braver than you think and when all else fails—your loving heart invites people into your life who will hold you up…the way that you have held us up.

Words cannot explain how much you have been there for me in my grief and my troubles. I only hope I can return the favour. I am holding you and your family in my heart, and I have faith that your mother is with our creator where she belongs.

I am looking forward to summer and Camp Kelly vacations. Your Mom told me she would like to visit our little camp because it looked so beautiful in pictures and your kids talked about it so fondly. I am confident she will be there with us this summer. You will see.

In the meantime, and in the sweet hereafter, keep tending to those lambs. Both your own, and the children you work with. You have always inspired me and helped me with my own children. You have seen potential in me that I didn’t see in myself….You taught me to embrace the chaos and to always find the best in the people I meet. Keep giving and loving the way your mother taught you to. Keep believing in yourself and others the way that your mom did.

You will never be lost if you trust in your own ability to lead. Thank you for always leading me in the right direction.

Miss you lots, love you more. See you soon dear friend.

Wishing you peace & sending you all my love.

    “Nessa”
