Peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 of Seaforth at the age of 90. Beloved husband of the late Ruby (Parsons) Finlayson (2018). Cherished father of Sharon Carnochan and Brian Wilson of RR 4 Seaforth, Sue Anne and Ed Van Miltenburg of RR 4 Seaforth, Sandra and Doug Dietz of RR 1 Dublin, and Shelley and Brian McGavin of RR 4 Walton. Proud grandpa of Erin McKay (Dave), Kevin Carnochan, Steve Carnochan (Cherie Lynn), Amanda McClure (Rob), Kim O’Donnell (Jason), Stacie Mathonia (Jeff), Nikki Huber (Jason), Randi Clarke (Brian), Nathan Wilson, Cody Wilson (Brittany), Jackson Dietz, Mike Dietz (Torrie), Heather de Boer (Ray), and Brandon McGavin (Rachel), Abby Gordon (Jeff), and Tyson McGavin and great-grandpa of Paige, Blake, Drew, Greg, Clara, Leah, Olivia, Cole, Reid, Simon, Griffin; Aubrey, Everlee, Harper, Daxton, Jorgia, Finn, Cruze, Ruby; River, Rain, Wren, Walker, Isla, Iver, Sarah, Deacon, Hunter; Paisley, and Bo.
Dear brother and brother-in-law of Garry and Irene Finlayson of Egmondville, Murray and Carol Finlayson of Exeter, Bryan and Brenda Finlayson of RR 1 Walton, Jack and Lynda Conlin of Lucan, and Lenore Parsons of Exeter. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Lorne and E. Irene (Volland) Finlayson, son-in-law Brad Carnochan, grandson, Matthew Carnochan, granddaughters Taylor McGavin, and Hailie Van Miltenburg, and brother Reg Finlayson and his wife Ina.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 87 Goderich Street West, SEAFORTH on Thursday from 2- 4 and 7 – 9 PM. Registration is appreciated but all are welcome. To register, please click “Register Now” below.
Laird’s funeral service will be held at Egmondville United Church, 26 Kippen Road, Egmondville on Friday, March 31st at 11 AM with Pastor Brian Hymers officiating. Spring interment Maitlandbank Cemetery.
Donations to Huron Hospice, Ronald McDonald House, or Egmondville United Church would be appreciated by the family.

I have just learned of Laird’s passing and am very sorry that I am not yet home and unable to be there at this time. Barbara and I had such a very special relationship with Laird and Ruby.
