Peacefully at the Bluewater Rest Home, Zurich, with her daughter Carol by her side, on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at the age of 92. Lenore was born July 6, 1929 to John McCowan and Kathleen Livingstone. She was eldest of seven, Mona Tigert (Ed), Ian McCowan (Hazel), Tom McCowan, Susan Arbour (deceased) (Babe), Emma Fangrad (Hart) and Johnny McCowan (Mary-Kay). She is predeceased by her first husband Fred in1992. She is survived by her children; Linda Elliott-George (Alex), Nancy Williams (Warren), Carol Gascho (Glenn), Bev Oesch (deceased) Ron, Deborah Elliott (Ky), Dan Elliott (Char), and Shane Elliott (Chrissy). She was blessed with 18 grandchildren and their spouses, and 28 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
She spent 27 years as a Health Care Aid at Huronview Home for the Aged. She found fulfillment in that important work. At 70 years young, Lenore found the love of her life, Roy Erb and they married July 1999. Through this marriage, Lenore enjoyed a second family with Marvin, Martha, Murray, Maureen, Matthew and Mark. Through Roy’s family she gained five grandchildren and twelve great- grandchildren. They began their life together at the farm where Lenore embraced the life she had enjoyed as a child and reveled in the livestock. Roy built a beautiful home by the lake with mom’s oversight and help.
Her final 7 years were spent in the care of the compassionate staff at Bluewater Rest Home.
A private memorial service will be held at Kingsfield – Zurich Mennonite Church, 37818 Zurich – Hensall Road, Zurich on Saturday, February 5, at 2 PM with Dennis Estep and April Zehr officiating. Although the service is private, the family invites you to join with them from the comfort of your home. Stream the service live or at your convenience by visiting www.facebook.com/haskettfh. Haskett Funeral Home, ZURICH entrusted with arrangements. Cremation has taken place and an interment will be held at the Maitland Bank Cemetery, Seaforth at a later date.
Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
